December and January: 6 wins. please tell me who was injured outside of Price and Gallagher for December. the injuries are a smoke screen. outside of Price, injuries had nothing to do with what happened this year.

yep.
lack of leadership does.

none of this is obviously the responsibility of the GM who completed his 4th year with the club
- basementfloor

Obviously it is, I'm not saying he deserves a free pass because he's made mistakes. All I'm saying is that I don't believe that this team is as bad as the season turned out to be.

bro when Victor Bartley is available you don't ask questions, you make the deal
- DoubleDown

He apparently asked many, because it took WEEKS to consummate that deal.

leadership i find overrated, although this team certainly seems to be piss poor in that area. but yeah... the top winger situation became a complete joke during that time.

But it isn't as good as last season showed, and that made them cocky.

i think since Bergevin got here we focus way too much on regular season. playoffs show you for what you are. the 2015 playoff completely exposed Montreal for what they were: a competitive team with competent defence and outstanding goaltending, but a team that absolutely could not score goals.

it's why i have no doubt that a healthy Price does put Montreal right back into a top-3 spot in the Atlantic, maybe a division title, and then a relatively quick playoff exit unless Price just goes completely off.

I put the blame squarely on the coach. If during 2 calendar months he couldn't find something, ANYTHING to motivate a couple of wins out of that fat lot of pussies, couldn't change something up to get more PP results, couldn't try anything even remotely new to generate some offense, I don't see how he can get a pass here. Yet, that's exactly what he's getting.

if they find a way to clear some cap and sign 2 top 6 forwards on July 1st, they have as good a chance of winning the cup as WASH, or PIT, or NYR, or TB...

Sounds about right.

Confession time, the sport of hockey has gotten increasingly dull for me so I've kinda been enjoying this whole mess. I'm still a Habs fan but goodness me, rare was the game involving any team where I was really absorbed by the play. It's gotten so choppy and there's so little creativity and I find myself enjoying other sports much more.

So all I really want next season is a bang, like full on spectacular or else a complete utter dumpster fire. I want unrestrained madness.

oh absolutely.

after a season like this I can't even conceive of how not a single change is made to the coaching staff.

it's bewildering.

Probably my biggest complaint about it all though, despite my defending him. I get that he just signed him to an extension but it smells a wee bit of nepotism.
