My question is. Did the guys that got the ice do any bether and did they deserve it more? - Fredo
yes, and yes, simply because they have more experience. don't get me wrong, Plek and DD didn't do much, and thank God we won't see them on the 1st line anymore.
But with their production over the past years, that was the right decision IMO. Until Chucky breaks out.

Worst team in the NHL from december to the end of the season, clearly the right decisions were made.

honestly, the way Chucky was playing the first 4 months, he didn't deserve more icetime. he was missing the net 9 times out of 10.
he finally woke up in February after being slapped in the face and then got more ice time. no issue there with MT IMO. - fidopro
But that's not why he didn't give him more minutes.
I will be wasting the traffic officer's time but I am not sure when yet. Waiting for a letter indicating when I get to meet with a prosecutor first to cut a deal. - twiztedmike

you can bet your house, if Chucky had played in October like he did in March, he would have had more minutes... - fidopro
I don't disagree. But it was MT's contention that he simply wasn't ready to play center, and be responsible enough on the D side of the puck, to warrant bigger minutes. I'm not really sure he's improved in that area.

MT knew things that most fans didn't about Chucky.
Fact #1 Chucky's appartment was a popular after hours party place.
Fact #2 Chucky spent many nights awake high on cocaine.
Chucky cooled down after his GF knock the (frank) out of him and then became the projected center we all want to see.

I think it's Carbo who said it yesterday. when you score 10 points and are -10, the coach won't play you much.
if you score 30 points and are -10... he'll give you plenty of icetime.
Chucky was not producing before xmas. he woke up. good for him!

like in every team. vets gets a pass. nothing new. - fidopro
let me preface this by saying that ultimately no one thing made the main difference. and i know Desharnais takes a lot of heat. but there is not a single hockey coach on the planet who would have kept deploying Desharnais the way Therrien did throughout the winter. and if you ask me "who else?" i would make a long list of players than included Jarred Tinordi, Gabriel Dumont and dt99999 jr.
