Half of the (long) first sentence of the latest Leafs blog:

The hierarchy of the Toronto Maple Leafs is encouraged by the club’s progress in the first year of the Mike Babcock/Lou Lamoriello administration

Man, that 1 point increase in point total over last year, yet fall to the basement of the NHL, is quite encouraging.

And seems the Wings didn't need blabclock to make the playoffs either. He goes to a new team and they end up in last place. Hmmmmmmmmm. Seems another wonderful Leafs decision gone down the chitter.

I bet if the laffs had a 27 point improvement, TSN would be blowing up with coverage on how it is the greatest turn around in modern day sports and they have the greatest GM/Head Coash combo in the history of the NHL and the best young talent by far.

Might be wrong but I thought Mathews out preformed (pts wise) Eichel in the same US leagues and WJC.
- BKups

No idea whether he did or didn't.

Eichel comes across as an absolute (frank)ing bumhole though, so hopefully whoever we get isn't the same.

Sens cleaning house already, any moves regarding Hoff or Ryan we should be apart off..

Ryan gets heat but if they hold salary could be a nice add. 55-65 point player

They will rationalize how they are the greatest team ever and never be wrong
But yes Matthews did out score him in the same leagues

I wasn't laughing at the scoring part. They mentioned Matthews would be in the discussion for #2 last year had he been eligible. I was laughing more at the part that apparently Eichel comes across as a "bumhole" (probably because he's an American and not a Canadian)

How has he been a "bumhole" at all? Farthest thing from it in my eyes, he is 19 and already a leader on the ice. Some Toronto fans blow my mind sometimes.

Sometimes tough to gauge the validity of these things, but there are whispers of Jimmy Vesey interest in Buffalo, and playing w/Jack Eichel

The eichel effect - everybody knows he needs a 2nd winger and everybody wants to play with him.

Thought i read that his "potential" is a 3rd liner though... Don't get me wrong i wouldnt mind getting another college free agent its always good to get good young talent. But would he be playing with Jack and Sam?

His record says otherwise. Looks like 1st, 2nd line material to me.

I agree. But i just see a lot of the "3rd line" potential stuff now. Which i don't understand, a playoff team offered him a spot in the top 6 going into the playoffs, so it does not make sense to me.

I hear yeah thats why its such a head scratchier, if he wasnt a top 6 like right now Id think hed just have signed. Somewhere people must have him this high if hes going this route

Maybe his mind is already set. Really hard to judge that early in a possible career.

Seems like some develop better depending on their surroundings .
