What do you think of Kadri's mentality. I just don't think its Champion caliber. Look at the top players, thats what separates them from Kadri (with a little more skill) - CanadianBodmon
Well I don't think Marchand's mentality is "Championship caliber" yet there he is with a ring and a gif of him ruining the quiet and honourable leadership of the Sedin's. |

For all the Kadri talk the answer is simple
Good skill, pesky rat everyone needs
but lacks the mentality to push us to the next level. that became true when he compared himself to tavares. Maybe he is as skilled, but the mind behind tavares will destroy kadri on and off the ice. - CanadianBodmon
Kadri didn't say he was like tavares, he said he wanted to be like tavares.
Big difference

Oh FFS, this is exactly why Toronto can't have nice things.
He said that he needed to push himself more - that his goal was to be as good at Tavares.
Why the frank do Toronto fans twist this into Kadri saying he's God's gift to hockey?

Read the article. The interview was all about how Kadri and Tavares were teammates, roommates and buddies.

“I think talent-wise there’s not too much difference, to be honest,” Kadri said. “Johnny’s a guy that works hard and that's something he’s learned from Day 1, so I’m getting my work ethic going and doing everything I can to be one of those players.”

Since Kadri was drafted in 2009 heres who was drafted 5th and who was projected to go 5th both NA and Europe.
selected 5th:
2009 B. Schenn
2010 Neiderrieter
2011 R. Strome
2012 Rielly
2013 Lindholm
2014 Dal Colle
2015 Hanifin
NA Europe
2009 Schroeder Erixon
2010 Fowler Rensfeldt
2011 Beaulieu Jaskin
2012 Rielly Hertl
2013 Monahan Wennberg
2014 Dal Colle Pastrnak
2015 Crouse Spacek
Kadri is better than 75% of these guys easy, and he was ranked 15th in NA by central scouting. People have wild expectations of undrafted prospects and automatically assume they will meet whatever expectations they dream up about them. If Tkatchuk was drafted 5th do you think he'll turn out to be better than Kadri? History says probably not. The truth is that Kadri was a very solid pick at 7. I know some people here are addicted to losing in a weird Stockholm syndrome type of way, like they don't deserve to win ever again. And thats why some would trade Kadri for the 5th overall, because it would set the team back due to having to develop a player who may never even become as good as Kadri anyways. The hate people have towards him really makes me wonder if it has nothing to do with his game, but other more ideological and sinister reasons. - Arctic_AARDVARK

I think he did pretty good for himself at 22
Just less than a point a game in the playoffs and a +12.
But we all know the only reason they won is having our boy Kaberle putting in work |

I like Kadri. Until we want to win a cup. - CanadianBodmon
god forbid a young player needs a month or two to adjust to a new coach and system.... from late november on kadri was one of the most productive players in the league |

I think the pens are gonna get dropped rd 1. hopefully the pens pick ends up as close to 21 as possible. should still be a few solid dmen available, or 21 +31 gets us a top 12-15ish pick if someone slides |

Lol I don't think your 2nd liners need to have a champion caliber mentality.
Stuff like that is so overrated anyway. The old Clarkson intangibles. Teams win cups, not individual players. |

To be fair.
James Tanner proved that there is no difference in the talent level of NHL players and that if there is ANY it is so minuscule as to be inconsequential. So Kadri is right...and leads the league in "expected goals." |

So stupid. Just more nonsense people use to back up their baseless claims.
Wtf if championship mentality? Who do you know when you see it?
Kadri one of the few that gives an honest effort all game every game. Going full out on the ice at all times. Why would we want that. |
