Buffalo had pretty much nowhere to go but up right? to say Buffalo is on the verge of being a playoff calibre team bu Toronto is 3-4 years is a joke. 93+ points will be needed to make it, they are at least 3 years away from that. Toronto technically started their rebuild this year, and are farther along than Buffalo was after their 2nd year. not an insult just saying.

I know this is hard to comprehend for some folks . We gained 27 points from Last years team and had the youngest team in the league . Take off the Blue and White blinders . The Leafs still do not have one prospect in the class of Eichel or Reinhart . Hopefully Toronto wins the Lottery and gets Austin Matthews and they will then.

This part I just don't understand. How can you say they're further? The Leafs have had a few guys show promise, sure. They still finished last place, right where the Sabres did the year prior. So, I would say that they are no further along then the Sabres were a year ago. Having Eichel, Reinhart, Risto, and Lehner all grow another year in development in the NHL is further along then having Marner, Nylander, and a few others get just a taste of the show. They will be great players, I'm not saying they won't, but the Sabres young studs have played a year in the NHL, are arguably more talented (not trying to start a debate with that, just on where they were drafted). So, no the Leafs are not further along after year 1 than the Sabres were year 2. And if they are, they won't be at the bottom of the standings next year, but will have more than 81 points like the Sabres do this year. But I just don't see that.

Vesey projects to be a career 3rd liner in the NHL. I know Goorf wants him just so Leafs don't get him. I hope we sign him in August and he has a great career with the Marlies.

The problem is more which teams will be displaced rather than making up the points.


As for the Leafs, they actually finished with more points than last year, but lost 42. Of those 42, 15 were one goal games (and that doesn't include the ones where there was an extra goal with the goalie pulled)... I think that they're closer than many think, especially if the balls drop the right way in a week or two
