Justin Schultz did himself ZERO favors going to EDM on a defensively TERRIBLE team being a predominately Offensive D-man. He seems to be fitting in well with Pens and his numbers in both college and the AHL were impressive. Troy Stecher is way more of a long shot to make the NHL, but with our lack of defensive depth at D, he would be a great free addition.

Chris Tanev would have a good argument. I don't generally get excited over them either but I have watched more college hockey this year than I have ever before and there are some kids that just standout. Drake Cagguila looked almost as good as Schmaltz and Boeser out there. It could be a scenario with a kid who plays with two great players and for that reason, his numbers look much better than they are (cough *Dane Fox* cough) but for a team like ours, who is trying to get younger and fast, why not take a run at these kids who have had success at the college level. Especially because they are free.

Imagine this.

Boeser - Horvat - McCann - Virtanen - Sven - Laine/Matthews/Pulj - Cagguila - Stecher - Hutton - Tryamkin.

That is a really nice young talented core moving forward for nothing more than our upcoming draft pick and some decent UFA free agents.
