If he had good wingers blah blah blah

I hate the 'if' word

Its like 'if' = fact

- Lee Denault

You can come up with "ifs" for every player in the league if you want to.

You gotta consider buffs PP has Eichel and reinhart.. TO's PP has PAP and (frank)ing Grabner.. im not saying Kadri is far better than ROR, im just saying id prefer him for the reason stated.

He's definitely tough to play against in the sense you can't put your stick 2 feet away from his feet or else he will go down like a sack of bricks.

But he will light you up from time to time

- Lee Denault

Kadri definitely owns him in the "fined for diving / embellishment" category.

Yeah.

But you can hide behind the opinion firewall and convo over

In my opinion the sky is red

- Lee Denault

You're being silly..

There are factors in play here that should be considered if you want to determine the true value of a player. If someone wants to argue the sky is red then he's crazy.. but saying Kadri didnt have good wingers is a legit point.. everyone agrees that the Leafs need to get Sundin better wingers than he had.. but to suggest the same thing for Kadri draws sharp critisizm.

Nylander didnt play most of the season... Rielly and risto cancel each other out.

Sundin played better with Hoglund than he did with Mogilny for what it's worth.

We've reached the "comparing Kadri to Sundin" plateau of the conversation. Good for us.

I like Kadri and I hope they keep him FWIW. O'Reilly is better though.

He's soft from a "I won't fight you for no reason, or destroy you in open ice" standpoint, but he plays a really heavy in tight, grinding down low style of hockey. He also has the finesse to compliment that play. I do like Kadri's skill set, but I wouldn't consider him a tough player.
- tomt8391

I think Kadri is tougher than ROR for sure.. he might fall down easier but thats partly to draw penalties.. ROR wouldnt fight backes if his career depended on it. Kadri take a beating every game and handles it well.

36.0% defensive zone faceoffs, 27.9% offensive zone faceoffs for risto
34.2% defensive zone faceoffs, 30% offensive zone faceoffs for rielly

25 minutes a game for risto, 23 for rielly. SH TOI around the same for both (slight edge to risto)

Kadri didnt deserve the fine he got.. and the refs turned a blind eye to all the infractions against him 3/4 the way through the season

ROR is definitely not a fighter, but to classify him as a soft player, I think, is unfair.

I never compared the two.. excpet for the fact that they didnt have the wingers they needed to reach their full potential. Kadri wont be half the player Sundin was. So we can drop the act now.

I actually think Kadri can still be a stud. I wouldn't be surprised if he has a 70 or 80 pt year at least once in his career. Hehe is very similar to Ribeiro, but more skill, and more compete. The only thing Kadri needs to work on is his shot.

While Kadri has learned to backcheck this year he hasn't learned how to do it as effectively as ROR yet.
