Very true…but these guys know they have to strike while the iron is hot. School will always be there…the NHL will not be.
- LordHumungous

Yup, thats why I think he goes pro this year. Its hard to go back and finish (I actually think courses expire after 7 years, at least at my school those were the rules), but the NHL is a rare opportunity, and others have managed to do school while playing.

Perhaps its actually his family is pressuring him to finish school instead? Mom's have that guilt factor

in the last three weeks i have had a reoccurring dream that we got the first pick, very vivid and goes against all that my Canuck fandom tells me.

now i ask you guys , does Marc Crawford get hired that same day or do they wait and give it a little time?

miller I see being here unless JB signs a backup for markstrom. we dont really have anything to put there....probably stronger with him in case of injury, which we already saw happen.

I dont mind bart actually. He's made some willie mitchel like saves on the goal line and has some good breakout passes. Could maybe be a decent piece if the defensive system structure were overhauled.

I think the issue hes had here is going from a very organized Defense structure in Boston to unorganized mess here in Vancouver. Not sure thats on the player. But hes a small issue either way....no biggie.

I dont think its a decision based entirely on turning pro. The guy has invested 3 years into a degree and its a tough decision to walk away from that. Most people know once you leave school, its really hard to go back. I would be willing to bet he wants to go pro, but is more torn about being 1 year shy of a degree and wondering if/how he can manage finishing it while being a rookie professional
(totally speculation here, but those are my ideas. The Canucks can offer him the starters job in Utica, which is the best anyone else would offer him, so I cant see a Vesey situation)

- WhiteLie

Frank that noise, I'd have walked away before finals in my final year if I was gonna sign a max or close to it ELC... Lols

Im hesitant on crawford. He wasnt that great when he was here and was terrible in LA and dallas. Think he lasted a year there.

Hes said he learned a lot overseas, but who knows if its enough. He seems to have a lot of experience with both youth and superstars though. Might be ok

I think you need to awaken from that dream, and there's only one way to do this properly, so pay close attention and do exactly as i say...raise your right arm, palm out not clenched and stretch it as far as you can to the side, now in a quick and violent motion strike yourself across your right side of your face...it may hurt a little, but should cure you of your Crawford admiration...

i was thinking the same , even Hartly had to go overseas and learn abit of humility and just a different approach. And in fairness to the LA years the team was transitioning and their Goaltending was weak (Cloutier) the dallas years were somewhat similar too and some of this staff have ties back to that.

yes....where is lemaire these days?
He's usually more of a entire team D trap style play. He did win 3 cups with it but I believe the nhl outlawed it to cut down on obstruction and increase scoring....or something like that. It's been awhile since then.

But otherwise, he's pretty smart he would be the type to create a new system that fits todays nhl.

What happened to robinson? I last recall him w SJ

Bart makes awful decisions with the puck. That has nothing to do with structure, he has hands like feet and gets lost in the cycle. His only positive asset is his skating ability, which is above average.

The structure in Boston is irrelevant, they let him walk away for nothing because he ended up being a healthy scratch because he isnt very good

EDIT: This is Bartkowski in a nutshell, this has nothing to do with structure or coaching. This is a bad player that had his man and lost him

well when you are canned in a single year by 2 back to back teams, that doesnt look good.

we are best off w systems guys. Every coach who has a cup the last 10 years has been 1. So best we get 1 right?!

hey i am all for second chances..lol, the only ones here who had are twins and they are old now so no problem.
i do admit there is a shelf-life tied to Crawford , but he may be the kind of coach who can get more out of this team, and if not at least he'll bag skate them every few days

dont be quick to say that....I wouldnt have mentioned it if it was irrelevant.
He looked decent there and doesnt here. Defense needs system structure, then guys know where to be, makes decisions easier as the plan is already laid out.
Lets face it, EVERYONE, with the exception of tree and hammer looks bad here because of it.
I havent watched him too closely but do see him making some good plays at least recently.

But either way, no biggie. He's no big loss or gain.

christ I miss Mitchel and salo.

I have a goldfish, now trust me when I say, I wouldnt have mentioned that if it was irrelevant.

See my edits above. First one, everyone else is in good position, except he makes some airhead decision to leave his man and the Sharks score. Second image, he has the puck, fails to move it quickly, then gets on the wrong side of his man and gets beat to the net. Thats basic hockey, there are coaches in peewee that have already told him not to play like he just did. I'm sorry but until the team gets smarter and better quality players, no coaching change or structure will make a difference

It's Markstrom's turn but I think Miller will pout his way into the final start of the year.
