i watch games I dont have to be in the room.

Have a nice day bro....I have no wish to be angry or you be either. You dont see it and thats ok.

The arrogance you post with is what gets to me.

I have validated my knowledge to you, I didn't want to but because you keep dismissing me and all other posters I decided to back it up. I am not some TV diehard, I have been in the room, I have been on good teams, had championship coaches, and I have former line mates in the NHL right now. I couldn't care less if I convince you otherwise, but the arrogance you dismiss people with "I'm sorry you don't see it", "You just don't get it" is ridiculous. Thats all you say when people challenge your ideas, it is for lack of a better term trolling.

It's the way he plays as he gets older and has to adjust to the speed of todays game. Ryan Smyth went through the same thing pretty much.
- LordHumungous

Oh i definitely agree with that but an adjustment is still needed if he can & wants to keep playing out his career.

Do you not think a more talented player from another team , maybe a championship team knows how to mentor? These are not the only mentors in the league. Has Sutter not learnt anything from Crosby or Malkin?

Look at the speed of the team . The young guys seem to be surpassing the older players

- VANTEL

I agree other players can fit that role & be more serviceable.
Just with Burr having 1 yr to go on his contract its hard to see how he fits in.
Hammer is another story & there is still much to do on revamping the D.
I'm only considering how it can work or just move on.

Edler Hutton Sbisa

Hutton needs the second pairing to grow. Do you want to pay your third pair D 3-4 mil?

lol I hear you and you know I have been on the move Burrows and Hammer train pretty much all year. But you can't ignore what Hammer has done with Tryamkin so far. Burrows we could take or leave I'm just saying we might want to warm ourselves to the idea that they both will be back here next season…Burrows will be a good utility guy when injuries strike. And they will.
- LordHumungous

Sorry I can't agree with the idea that Hammer has been a good mentor for Tryamkin. I believe all the credit should go to his position coach, Doug Lidster ...

I'm sure the Dragon will back me up on this ......

These dog days r tiresome granted & i cannot help thinking 1-2 better pucking D men can change our outlook greatly. Bart/Weber r gone due to not being the answer & Weber only was here for his PP production which disappeared. Larsen can only be another hope he fills our need & he cannot hurt us any worse than the afforementioned 2. BHutt should only get better but Tree looks pretty solid in his 11 game adjustment & also should be better with that under his belt.

No i don't but a 2yr contract is not holding any prospects back since we r severely lacking in that area. The conundrum is too many D currently & not enough quality.
I'm not advocating Hammmer is back but there is no obvious solution atm either.

I always circle back to an OS lol

He may be beating a dead horse but it doesn't mean Willie isn't $hit. I personally haven't seen any defensive structure, nor have seen any urgency on the power play or 5 on 5. Questionable line combos. No fire or emotion on the bench. We have the least amount of shots in the league. Our GAA is absolutely horrendous. You can't put most of these on the players. He sucks. He and his whole staff will be gone by mid November.
- thundachunk

thank you. Its true.

and since they arent any good, why are they here?.... in a professional sports franchise...which are intent on winning and playoffs.

First of all I think our top 4 next year is

Edler ( who does not want a trade) Tanev

Hutton Tryamkin

Sbisa ( at 3.6 mil)

Larsen , Biega and Pedan

I doubt anyone is trading for Sbisa. Where does Hamhuis fit in . He doesn't especially at 3-4 mil.

We need to find a 25 -28 yr old Dman. Hamhuis would need to sign 2x2.5 to make it worth while. Need to look at the big picture.

If we draft Sergachev , he will be third pair LHD.

Gotta plan for injuries.

Plus, if we draft Serg. I don't see him stepping in next year.

um no....I have typed out long posts explaining in detail my position from a matter of fact right off the bat. It isnt until someone posts stupid garbage like its all on the players or crap like that that I say OK you can t get it. The points for it were already made long ago bro. Why type it out again and again and again when it wasnt understood the 1st time, 2nd time, 3rd time etc.

You make it sound like I am alone in that....NOOOO. theres lots of people that do see it. Some in more detail than myself. And here on HB theres a bunch who see it too....Thundachunk earlier just credited the same stuff as well.

Some see it some dont. We dont all see things the same and thats human nature.

Please dont try to say I dont answer the bell on it....pay attention to post content if you wish to see the answers which I put in earlier when we spoke......

The debate between coaching vs player has got to be one of the most boring debates we've had on this site in some time. That and red wine.

Why? We have one of the worst defensive corps in the NHL. Unless we pick up some free agents d-men, this is a bottom 5 team again next year and who else makes the lineup ahead of him or Chych?

This could go round and round all night . What is the reason to bring in a bottom pairing Dman that puts up 10 points a year and is not overly physical, and pay this spare part 3-4 mil a year.

Look at the tail end of the last thread and see how many people disagreed when I said the same thing as I am saying now. Its pretty obvious there is a system, no one makes it out of minor hockey coaching without a system. After losses, the players say they didn't execute, what didn't they execute if there is no system?

I posted two examples of plays and told you the defensive system, where guys were positioned and why the plays went wrong. Neither of them had anything to do with the coach. If you can find me any youtube clip that supports your claim that there is no system, I guarantee I can find you the breakdown in the system. As with any structure, if one piece fails, it all collapses

Here's another example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y8-Fh84Iyi8
What do you think they are doing there? Willie says, "thats your guy". And why is that "his guy"? Because thats what the system is. So to you on your TV you think there is no system, but in reality Virtanen and McCann were out of position. Coach can say it a million times in video, but its up to the player to do it.

Chych i see as more NHL ready (with my limited insight).
Otherwise, i see the ones Vantel listed as ahead....
