I am actually coming around to the idea of Burrows and Hammers mentor ship as I am seeing what Hammer is doing for Tryamkin. I'm just not sold on keeping their contracts around...
- LordHumungous

i have to say , with Burrows , him on an expiring contract , and if healthy , could get a good return near the deadline next year

I hearya about systems but the turnovers & poor passes & poor decisions from the D start the trouble & players like Bart & Weber show that in spades. Many here have said passes in the feet r N issue & i agree thats where most problems begin on the breakout as well as waiting too long to move the puck. It doesn't help that Marky & Miller r not good or smart handling the puck either.

Training camp will be a breeze this year, it's in here that is going to be the gong show.

Lets just put the proper and legitimate story behind Shrink before all these yahoos go nuts.

1. The ONLY and ONLY reason Canuck fans were upset is that he was a draft pick. There is a higher level of emotional attachment to him and a greater want to see him succeed.

2. Thats why we are slow to embrace Sven Baertschi or Granlund. We question them. We look at the GM sideways and wonder what he is up to. Obviously Baertschi has worked out. It just took us longer to come around. Who knows what will be said about Granlund.

3. Calgary Flames fans know 0% about Skrink yet are suddenly experts. Vancouver fans know 0% about Shrink as 99% have never seen him play.

So get over yourselves. No one in Vancouver is upset because we think we lost a trade... it's only we had an investment in the guy who, Benning --- THE ONLY GUY WHO KNOWS ANYTHING --- thought it best too pass on him.

Does everyone on the Red Mile understand now?

Smack yourself for thinking that way . We don't need 30 mil in mentor ship. I would prefer 30 mil in talent

On the bright side, it seems no matter how bad we get we're still better than the Oilers and Leafs.

What i notice is Burr loses his edge so often i wonder about his choice of skates or the choice of sharpening. That alone stands out to me every game watching him go down.

Seriously man, you think you know everything? You just made a comment suggesting the "trap" was outlawed.

Systems in hockey are the same EVERYWHERE. The difference between a good coach and a bad coach is that the good coaches figure out the learning disability of the worst players and effectively communicate to them where to be, or move the puck in a particular situation. The system breaks down when players make bonehead players (frank) it up, which is more than half the Canucks defense. You're not in the room to say there is no system, I am willing to bet they talk in video over this and guys just cant see it when they are on the ice

I dont come on here to brag about my hockey knowledge, I come here to talk Canucks, but when you try to tell me I dont know systems I will laugh at you. My coach in Juniors was the D coach for the memorial cup champion Giants, so go ahead and tell me I have no idea what I am talking about. Get off your high horse

- WhiteLie

Well said. I have played and helped coach up to the WHL level. Sorry Dragon he's pretty bang-on here.

There is much to be said for Burr & Hammer for mentoring & helping kids become pros.
My problem is how to fit them in & make it work sensibly.
With Burr proving himself at every level & making the NHL & how he stuck shows drive & character. Hammer at his best is fluid & smart positioning & is good at not taking himself outta the play. Again idk how they can fit in or if they r put to pasture but they can give value if a way is found.

lol I hear you and you know I have been on the move Burrows and Hammer train pretty much all year. But you can't ignore what Hammer has done with Tryamkin so far. Burrows we could take or leave I'm just saying we might want to warm ourselves to the idea that they both will be back here next season…Burrows will be a good utility guy when injuries strike. And they will.

It's the way he plays as he gets older and has to adjust to the speed of todays game. Ryan Smyth went through the same thing pretty much.

Do you not think a more talented player from another team , maybe a championship team knows how to mentor? These are not the only mentors in the league. Has Sutter not learnt anything from Crosby or Malkin?

Look at the speed of the team . The young guys seem to be surpassing the older players

I was joking BTW

Plenty of younger faster vets available to mentor.
