Then the Flyers have no breathing room and need to win both to get in.

If Boston or Detroit lose Saturday, and we get two points in the last two games we'd surpass one of them in points so 94 to 93 and be in.

Gonna be weird for you guys to root for the Rangers tomorrow
- rangerdanger94

I think it pretty safe to say that rooting for other teams has been absolutely pointless. The Flyers are certainly not getting help from anyone. Yeah Boston dropped a few games and Detroit slumped a little, but seems like every time we thought...okay just need some help from X team tonight...clunker

The Rangers will do whatever they are going to do....it doesnt matter. Flyers need 4 points

And anytime we did get help, it seems as though we would squander it by losing.

Thanks Bill. Another disappointing loss; three in a row, and two against weaker teams. I don't get the team MO, but it is what it is. Surf's up Dude; the joys of summer.
I thought that the Detroit game had several questionable calls, and it seems like other games are having similar issues. For example, from the Detroit game, the first goal against Mason seemed like interference. In addition, the first penalty against the Flyers was kind of "iffy" at best. It will be interesting to see what the players, and managers say after the season ends, and what they suggest to improve the play calling; it's so inconsistent. But, that is no excuse for the poor play the Flyers have shown of late. I think that I will miss the Pens game, and maybe watch the Islanders game. Not that those games matter, but it will be a nice long break before we get to watch the Flyers again.
Also, I hope that the Flyers fix the passive box PK strategy during the summer. If it doesn't work, then try something a little more aggressive please. Oh, and last suggestion, let some of the forwards that we want to keep, work out with Gary Roberts in order to get them in shape, and in the right mindset.

Yeah sorry OR. Makes me feel a little bit better but I still don't have confidence in the Pens game.

The Pens have to be due for a loss at some point. Might as well be Saturday.

Flyers lost a would-be buzzer-beating goal in Detroit back in January when a goal was disallowed for Simmonds doing almost the exact same thing Laich did. Virtual carbon copy. Flyers won that one via SO but that hurt them in tiebreaker and also enabled Detroit to earn one point.

So, yes, it's a bitter pill to have this one count. Detroit is one point ahead of the Flyers.

- bmeltzer

That one was disallowed because Simmonds jumped back and into the goalie. Not because he was in the crease. You are also misquoting the rulebook. I don't know where you got that, but here is the actual quote fromt eh rulebook.

If an attacking player establishes a significant position within the
goal crease, so as to obstruct the goalkeeper’s vision and impair his
ability to defend his goal, and a goal is scored, the goal will be
disallowed.

Laich hand not established position in the crease, let alone a significant one.

As a Rangers fan, I want the flyers in the playoffs, makes for better playoffs series! Although my Rangers will probably get knocked out in first round! ugh

Your best bet is to keep losing and get the Panthers in round one. Playing the Pens will be a war, and even if you win, you'll probably have nothing left in the tank for round 2.

Man, that's a tough one

Because "we" -- not anyone specifically, but sports fans -- kill guys for not playing hurt. We butcher them into little pieces and then set those little pieces on fire and then scatter the ashes

But if he is hurt and it is affecting his play...man. That's a tough one

If he really is playing injured to the point that it's clearly affecting his on ice play, then yeah, you gotta sit him.

As was said, I don't question Voracek's heart or effort level. But man, is he handling that puck like a live grenade and making decisions that have baffled me since he came back. He just doesn't seem like the same player, a half step slow.....coordination off.....the whole gamut.

He has to be feeling effects of that foot more than he or the team is letting on. There really can be no other explanation.

Cousins was out in favor of Laughton. Lines were switched up a lot during the game. Gagner was with Giroux and Simmonds for a few shifts.

Believe me: I see it, too. He's always had a tough time with shot/pass selection, to me. It's compounded when, as we have all seen, he isn't maintaining puck possession

I don't know what you do with that, if he isn't 100 percent but can play. Damned if you do, damned if you don't

very unfortunate time for their best possession winger to be not at his best

not a deep team to start with

no MDZ, a hobbled Jake, Mase giving his all but so many games in a row, relying on Manning (and really the rest of the D) in key situations... it is what it is and the results show it

still I thought with the great March run, it would come down to the weekend

no way in hell did I see them clinching a spot before this weekend, not their style

to have a shot at this point is still pretty sweet, and way above where they should be based on their talent level, imho

ty!

too bad cousins was the man out, I really like his play. He seems to be in the right place alot, puck follows him. Smart positionally I guess is the way to say it. And seems to really annoy other teams, draw penalties. Him centering Laughton on the wing would be a decent 4th line I think. Maybe with Bellemare, but maybe with a bigger wing they pick up this summer?

should I watch the dvr?

I'm thinking no

He's struggling for sure. I would just let him play, if you are going to go down, go down with your best players.

Even before the injury he's had a pretty rough season. Only 11 goals. Hopefully next year he's the player he was in 2014.

Watch the last 10 mins of the third period, then shut it off.
