At the end of the day, if you don't make it, what did they prove besides the fact that they are a bubble team?
- rangerdanger94

They were a bubble team at best. I thought them more likely to be a bottom 10 team. So this season the best case scenario played out.

I hear you man... But come on. They have a depleted roster with nothing to play for. You can't lose that game at home under any circumstance.
- PLindbergh31

We're on the same page with that. I still am disgusted they didn't get 2pts. Absolutely unacceptable and like I said they don't deserve it if they can't beat the leafs. There's no real layups in this league. Look at Carolina and Boston te other day.

I mean, come on -- if they make it in with MacDonald and Manning playing for the last month, you almost have to be dancing in the streets

Yup, it's not lack of effort. It's a lack of crucial pieces needed to be a solid playoff team.
- BiggE

Yes, and we knew that in September. So, yeah, this weekend will be exciting. Possibly ending on an exciting note. Possibly ending on a disappointing note. There are worse positions to be in right now. We could be Devils fans, for example. lol

And that's what I'm rooting for -- it may not happen, but it is still there for them if they can find a way
- AllInForFlyers

Yep, I hope Ottawa wins too. I just don't see it. Of course I didn't see Toronto winning last night either. It's why they play the games.

Ottawa won't win tomorrow. Flyers will need all 4 points to make the playoffs.
- PLindbergh31

I think they do.

Ottawa is going to beat the Bruins in Boston. And then all the Bruins and fans will get to watch them knocked out as the Flyers play at 3pm after them.

The good news is that probably neither the Penguins nor the Islanders will have extra incentive to be spoilers for the Flyers.

So where are we at scenario-wise?

Flyers win both games, we're in.
Bruins or Det lose their last game, we need 2 or 3 points this weekend?

Absolutely -- I understand why people are disappointed with last night. I watched it, too

I just can't be furious with a team that clearly needs at least, what...four more pieces? Three, if you believe MDZ makes a difference (and I do)

Flyers win both, we're in not matter what the other 2 do.

If both teams lose, Flyers only need 2 points out of final 2 games.

There are holes for sure, I just want to see the good run they went on rewarded with a playoff spot. If they make the playoffs it's all gravy from there.

Probably more as they also need to probably lose some guys to reshape the roster.

I want to see them in too.

I am probably crazy but I think they give the caps trouble if they get in. Just because ALL the pressure is on the caps.

The bigger thing they need is 4 days off. That would be huge right now. They are so spent its crazy. Tons of OT games this year, tons of lulls early in the schedule and even more back to backs over the last quarter of the season. They have been playing "playoff games for the past month" .. Its catching up and they need a breather. WIN Saturday. Thats it.

If BOTH Det. and Bos. win on Saturday, Flyers HAVE to win.

If either of them lose in regulation, Flyers will only need two points over the weekend, anyway they get it.

Yes. I believe they could give the Caps trouble. They were very competitive with Washington in every game they played.

Then the Flyers have no breathing room and need to win both to get in.
