At the end of the day, if you don't make it, what did they prove besides the fact that they are a bubble team?
- rangerdanger94

Well, many of us already thought of the team this way, so no surprise there.

Before that stretch there had been some games that they surprisingly won. I can go back and look at their sched. Beat Detroit on the road and some others. It's not an excuse but also they played us tough this year.
- Hextall271

I hear you man... But come on. They have a depleted roster with nothing to play for. You can't lose that game at home under any circumstance.

Flyers have this knack of making every goalie they encounter look like a Vezina winner. Bernier, really?

It's not just that they are tired, but lets face it, they are being asked to overachieve and that's very difficult to do for an extended period of time. On paper, this is not a playoff team. They are a 2 line team, and lack any top pair Dmen. Look at the Chicago vs St Louis game last night. Any of the top 3 Dmen on both of those teams would be #1 on our depth chart last night. I think that the Flyers top players are either out of gas (Giroux, Ghost and Streit) or not anywhere near 100% (Voracek). They just don't have the horses to win with sheer talent and it's very hard to win every game by outworking your opponent and having your goalie stand on his head.

No matter how they finish, they've exceeded my expectations for this season and I can't wait to see how this team develops over the next few seasons.

Well, the leafs could have a lot better job of mailing this in. Play a stinker vs Cbj and then play like all stars vs us. They only have themselves to blame and there's no excuse. Edmonton will now win 1st overall again.
- Hextall271

I don't think the Leafs played like all Stars, they just played their regular game. Philly seemed so slow. CLB were much much faster

You can when some things dont go your way...but I agree...they should've come out and put that game away from the beginning like they have a couple times in recent weeks

Exactly.

And Anders Lee is out now with a broken leg for the Islanders.

Ottawa win and Flyers win and playoffs here we come.

Yes it was. I thought getting that goal and having the momentum heading into the OT that they would get the 2 points.

So if they get into the playoffs and go on to win the Stanley Cup that wouldn't surprise you?
- PLindbergh31

Better chance you go out and buy a MacDonald jersey.

Yup, it's not lack of effort. It's a lack of crucial pieces needed to be a solid playoff team.

And if you had told me this where they would be on April 8th, back on October 1st, I would have been elated.

The Islanders are crippled by injuries. Have to think they might rest Tavares.
I think the Flyers are going to need all 4 points though, I don't see them getting any help tomorrow.

Agreed, but if you told me it 10 days ago, I''d be punching holes in the wall Big E. It's all about the present.

I won't lie,if they don't get in I'll be disappointed. I'll go so far as to say watching these games early in the first round will be tough to watch for me knowing they had a shot at it.

Of course I'll get over it and watch the most exciting postseason in sports

I'm not rooting for the Rangers. Don't want any favors from them. Hope they lay another egg tomorrow, and get blasted by the Panthers in the first round.

I mean, look at the defense. Not that they're playing horribly -- I am not saying that. But just look at it.

Your best defenseman is a 23-year-old rookie. Your second-best defenseman is a 38-year-old. Your third-best defenseman, Gudas, is the right age and plays hard and should be playing when you're good, but has to be on your third pair when you are

You can go to the whip to bring that home, but sometimes, there just might not be anything there. You can hope for one more big performance -- and I think they might have one more in them over the weekend -- but they might just not have enough in the tank to close it out

And for me: That's OK. This year is house money

And that's what I'm rooting for -- it may not happen, but it is still there for them if they can find a way
