Agreed!

So you think Berube is rooting for the Flyers to make the playoffs?

When the Flyers tied the game with under a minute left, they showed him in the studio, it looked like someone punched him in the stomach.

I guess i just don't understand your mindset. He knows many of these players for years, coached them in pro and the minors. I don't see why he wouldn't be happy for them.

I think BigE summed it up best a few pages ago.

They have a D filled with #4,5,6 type guys.

Jake who they need to dominate to win big games has come up lame.

They don't have the depth that other teams do top to bottom through the line up.

They have overachieved to get to this point, and things are catching up to them.

Gudas goal scoring has dried up. Who saw that coming?

I'd prefer if the flyers sign a couple stopgap ufas to 1 or 2 year deals again on the cheap rather than depend on the phantom kids. I want the prospects done right. I want them to be contributing to a good phantoms team that's making the playoffs. I don't want to see NAK, Sanheim, or even Morin up next year. They need to prove it down there. I'm on board with that. Provorov is probably the only one that's ready, but he's not like the others because hes a legit top 10 pick. Konecny should be sent back too.

There should be several free agents available that can provide stopgap duties.

See I don't get the running out of gas commentary. All the teams in the league are playing 82 games, some will be playing another 20 or so. Why aren't Detroit and Boston running out of gas? They've been winning a lot of games lately. It should be easier to play when you're winning.

IMO they've let that Pittsburgh game snowball them. It got in their heads.

Teams naturally ebb and flow. Flyers appear to be ebbing when they should be flowing. How's that? :-)

Makes you wonder about the Pens in the playoffs. They have played great for so long they are bound to hit the ebb part.

lol but seriously, I think they are more dangerous when one of Malkin or Crosby is out of the lineup.

Debatable... they aren't giving him Hagelin and Kessel... he gets the 3rd line role.

2nd round, possibly a bit sooner. They are being really hush hush with updates on if hes ahead of schedule, while being strong on not behind schedule.

So the original 6-8 weeks is what is assumed... although JR once said it was 4-6 in an interview. So I think he might be ahead. Also the last home game, when the Pens give the game jerseys to fans... Malkin had no cast or anything on that arm.

Yes Sir. I've been advocating that forever. I'd target a player like Colton Sceviuor. 26 yoa ufa who plays fast for the bottom 6. Throw in a PA Parenteau or a Shawn Matthias and now you have real depth in the bottom 6.

Simmonds-G-Jake
Raffl-Couturier-Schenn
Laughton-Matthias-Straka/Read
Bellemare-Cousins-Sceviour

I would look to trade Read. A team like phoenix may want him and his cap hit might even have value to them. Give Straka a real shot in camp. Guy can put pucks in the net.

I don't really understand what Straka did that was so wrong in his callup 2 years ago to not get another look

Not to mention he can take his guaranteed money and have his choice of jobs back in college if he chooses. The guy really has backed himself in a corner. The dummy.

I believe Hakstol has come as advertised . A very good teacher of the game. Still needs to improve on game management, but I feel he is the right coach at the right time with the prospects in the pipeline getting close to the NHL.

He has some flaws, but they are ones that should improve with experience.

the league has kinda caught up to Ghost as well.

Only 5 assists, no goals in last 12 games.

Next year he will have to make some adjustments. (and hopefully find a better partner)

Have to disagree there. Plenty of adults hold grudges despite it being childish. My mindset on the issue is he may like the guys on the team but he wants the team to fail to prove (maybe just to himself or maybe to the world) that he wasnt the reason they missed last season.

Hakstol has a learning curve also. There is a reason there haven't been a lot of college coaches jump to the NHL. I can see why Hexy went after him so hard. Some credit has to go to the coaching staff for the development of Ghost, Coots, and Schenn. I hoped they would evolve into what they are now, but would have they developed this much under Berube?
