They aren't that random for the good teams

Dylan Larkin
Robbi Fabbri
Jaeden Schwartz
Vlad Tarasenko
Brandon Saad

I could go on and on.

My point is how much would it take to pry one of the aforementioned "Young studs" away from their current team? Now how much would it cost to draft and develop them internally?

The "We don't need anymore picks" narrative is a bad one

Every one of those players is on a roster for a team that is already a perennial playoff team. We need to become a winner before we can become a dynasty.

Agreed, but they can go hand in hand.

I still can't believe the best team in the league traded for Mike Weber
- Buffalo--Sabres

He's a good guy to have for your 7th guy in the playoffs when someone inevitably gets hurt. Who would you rather have Weber, Colaiacovo, Nate Schmidt, or Taylor Chorney?

I'd take Weber over all 3 of them with their best attributes combined.

How about our 1st, 2017 2nd, and Ennis for Drouin?
- sskkoo1

U wanna trade a top10 pick, multiple 20 goal scorer AND a 2nd round pick...
For a punk who been pretty mediocre in the NHL?

Idk if I'd trade our 1st this year for him straight up

Say no to Yakupov.
- dadeadhead

I was just throwing some potential names out there that should be available
I think he can still be a good player,
But I also get why some ppl would hesitate or not want him here

Gonna go on a football tangent real quick:

I really hate when football players hold out on contracts or their agents get mad that they aren't getting a new deal before their current one is up (TT is the reason this is coming up). You signed a deal for that amount of money and that amount of years. Honor your contract.

Maybe it's the fact that I follow the NHL closer but at least in the NHL your contract is pretty solid and there's less holdouts and whining.

- Zschalberg

Why should the players be obligated to honor it when teams will very often ask them to restructure & take less, or cut them & they get nothing?

I don't see how u can be upset at the players for doing the same thing management does

And for Tampa
If he looks good, then they should be able to get value for him
If not, they're probably stuck with a guy who doesn't wanna be there.
Plus losing Stamkos
And what to do with Bishop?
This offseason in when they'd have to trade him or Vasilevskiy, or they'd like lose one of them for nothing

We need speed in the bottom 6. What would it take to land Scott Laughton?

No, he sucks.

Would not want to think that because he is a former first round pick would increase the return.

I think he's a decent buy-low candidate. I wouldn't give up anything substantial. thinking a player for player.

Honestly don't think I would trade any of the third line guys on the Sabres, minus Gionta (which would not happen), for another third liner.

I might be over valuing them, and disregarding speed, but yeah.

Franson? A deal involving Ennis?

I wouldn't move Foligno, Gus or Larsson for him because at best that's probably a lateral move

I can't see Franson being someone who anyone wants, much like Moulson or Gionta.

I don't see anyone wanting Ennis until at least the trade deadline when he plays some games and shows he is healthy.

Agreed. He had a lot going for him. Leadership and a voice in the room. Some skill that showed finally this season. And stood up for the team. We have kept a lot worse for a hell of a lot longer.
I was a on the ship him out dingy last season. He changed my mind with what we had going through this season.

Regardless of how he looks, he still puts up respectable numbers. He's a fine 4-6 defender IMO

I have little interest in him playing anywhere but the bottom pair though

Would be nice to see Ennis play some for the last game .

4 more points to be had . Why not at this point in the standings. Lets kick some ass and make some names for next season .

Arguably "suck," "decent buy low candidates" who "aren't worth anything substantial" are exactly the kind of assets that build dynasties, right?

Cause that's what you get with first round picks just as often as not
