They sent down a couple of their hotter forwards because the Marlies are struggling with all these call ups. I think that impacted last nights game as well. - mayorofangrytown
Are those forwards back up for tonight? |

No doubt. I probably saw one of his first games during the 71-72 season, although I am unsure which of the games (14 game ticket plan) I actually attended live. I probably went to 5 or 6 of them. I definitely was at the game that the Blues went into the stands due to beer being dumped on Al Arbour. That incident led them to create the entrance that went directly to the visitor's bench rather than using the zamboni entrance.
Most of my memories of Taylor, though, are of the 7-6 win in Montreal (72-73 Clarke hattrick) and the 73-74 games against the Flames (7-6 win), Bruins (5-3 loss on a nationally televised matinee) and Penguins (6-1 loss). Good times. - GeorgeBailey
Damn, you may even be older than me! My memories of games prior to 72-73 are pretty hazy

Interesting article comparing Holtby's year to some all time great seasons (Bernie is included), and chase for the wins record.
http://www.sportsnet.ca/h...ck-brodeur-luongo-parent/
An obvious point that the author does not bring up is that the tenders after 05 have had the benefit of no ties and getting shootout wins added to their total. To me, that means that comparing them to Bernie is apples to oranges.
One thing someone on my hockey team mentioned the other day is that back in Bernie's day, the game ended in a tie after regulation?? For some reason, I thought that they had a 5 min OT and then called it a tie, but I think that's because the rules were like that in the 80's when I started watching the game. if so, his starts are even more amazing really.

No. They probably didn't have time for recalls with back to back games. Those kids aren't in the line up. Hyman and Brown have missed the last couple games although they kept Kapanen and Nylander up. Hyman's been a bit of a revelation to them. |

Yes, comparisons are apples-to-oranges.
Yes, his stats really are amazing. It was so great to be able to watch him play in his prime.
Edit: And, yes, in the good old days games ended after 60 minutes of play. |

Absolutely, the numbers he put up during the Cup years were simply amazing. His positioning was fantastic and he was as quick as a cat. He was never really the same after the neck injury, but from 10/73 through 5/75, he was the best I ever saw. |

Hinkie is available. He's better at rebuilding than Bob Vila. |

Get back to me if there still in last 3 years from now. I was onboard with Hinkie at the start, but it had just gotten ridiculous. If they hadn't brought in Coangelo which led to bringing back Smith, would they have even won 5 games this season? It was time for a change. |

Jays were too. Then they only got a split in Tampa and blew two leads late. Idiots. |
