Amac is not dragging ghost down. I think he's just hitting one of those rookie walls.
- funmaster18

I think it's more opponents doing their homework and focusing on him. You saw it last night; Zetterberg was on him like a fly on poop that prevented chances

I heard NHL teams use video to study other teams and their players. Probably just an unfounded rumor.

Yeah but he also made some questionable passes and flubbed a few pucks. I think it's a bit of both. Could also be a fatigue factor there.

So not true.

Edit: and I wasn't being sarcastic toward you...Ghost slipping of late isn't a surprise for a few reasons, fatigue and teams knowing his moves among them.

The entire top PP unit has struggled for a good while now, aside from the Ottawa game. That goes for Ghost, Giroux, Simmonds, and Schenn. Not sure that's a great barometer for comparison.
- jmatchett383

I'm not saying Ghost is dragging down the 1st Power play but to blame Macdonald for "dragging down" his play is pretty questionable when Ghost should be equally if not more effective on the power play.

I've never played professional hockey, let alone professional goalie, but here is my take:

As a goalie you have to keep your eyes on the puck and pay attention to where it is on the ice at all times. Then while the play is in your zone, you're moving side to side, up and down (whether the shot gets through or not), you're kicking, stretching, and up and down with all the equipment.

I think the mental portion of the position is far more exhausting then the physical which is pretty tough too.

I've had days at the office where I've sat on my a$$ but have gone home more tired than if I was in and out of office all day on jobs. Only because the mental stress of the day was more tiring than the physical.

- hockeylover

Yeah, I've had people that don't play basically say, why are you tired, you just stand there all game. haha

I play about 60 games a year, and probably another 20+ offseason scrimmages. It is a very demanding position. There's the mental aspect that drains you, but also the up and down, side to side with very heavy equipment. Stretching to make saves. You get bumped all the time and also have to fight through screens etc.

Not to mention getting hit in spots that miss all of your equipment. This last weekend I got hit in the neck with a slap shot from the point. My plastic dangling neck guard got a little bit of it, but it still bruised etc. In short, it's more taxing than you'd think.

I'd love for the Flyers to make the playoffs, but that was a long shot this year. So, while I'll be a little bummed out if they don't make it, it won't be the end of the world. What you hope is that, if they miss out, it shows some of the younger guys (and maybe some veterans) how hard you need to work for 82 games, how important a good start is, and that you need to bear down to close out games where you have a slim lead.

Agreed. They have some talent, most of it is either injured or suspended.
Obviously JVR, Lupul, Kadri, Komarov are all very good players. Like you said, they are icing the equivalent of a minor league hockey club.

- PLindbergh31

problem is for the flyers is exactly that..they are suiting up our minor league players who are better than the regular line up...believe me i hope we lose but not promises

Been the Marlies pretty much playing after the All Star break

- ShayneCorsi

But I've noticed they've played pretty well recently with last night's game being the exception.

If the Penguins win tonight, and the Rags get either 1 point, or zero points, the Penguins lock up the # 2 seed I believe. Rendering Saturday's game meaningless.

Edit: Or maybe not.

- PLindbergh31

I am wondering what kind of lineup the Pens and Isles ice if they have everything sewn up and can't move up or down? Do they sit some of the stars? If they do, it could be important as we might actually get some points.

I guess. Thats the positive end.

I'd prefer for them to learn a lesson about how hard work can pay off as well. Or the experience of making the playoffs. Start a culture change toward winning.

That and for the sanity of hockeybuzz. If they miss the summer will be hard to read.

Marc Bergevin's job is to get a new trendy haircut and look for more fancy metro suits.

The kids they've brought up have been playing strong hockey all year in the AHL. They expect to win unlike the regulars on the team.

I could see the Flyers have real problems tonight. I don't expect a blow out, and just hope they find a way to get 2 pts. If they don't get 2, they don't deserve to be in the playoffs IMO.

Last night was a stinker, but there was no motivation for CBJ or Tor. Tor can throw our playoff push off track, and recently Bernier pitched a shutout vs Detroit on the road. I hope this doesn't happen, but it totally could.
