i love how neither of our 8mill/year guys could get a goal these past few games
- JoeRussomanno

I'm going to give Voracek a pass now because he's clearly injured. He hadn't had a good year prior to the injury though. He's got to get back to being the player he was last year. If he's a 15 goal 60 point player going forward with his contract it won't be good.
Need him at 25 goals, and 75 points.

I mean in the last month they have losses to Edmonton, Columbus, Phoenix, and Toronto. How is that possible?

OK fellas this much I can almost guarantee, there is almost no way letang and crosby dress with nothing to play for, I wouldn't be surprise if they brought up the entire squad from Wilkes Barre scranton

And in that span they've played some of the best hockey in the East.

If the Flyers get 4 points, and Boston and Detroit both win in regulation who is out of the playoffs?

Well to me the hot streak wasn't truly who they are. Playing at that rate means they are a top team. It just sucks to have happened now, hitting reality.

I think they are pretty burned out playing at such a high intensity for the last while, and pretty banged up. Voracek and Mason in particular.

Still though, you are this close. If they don't get in, they blew it and excuses mean nothing.

Perhaps, but unbelievably clairvoyant.

TIL I learned a team making up like 12 points in the standings in the final 30ish games of the season and just missing the playoffs by a point or 2 after jockeying for that last wildcard is "blowing it".

I still believe we watch playoff hockey.

Some people in here are fascinating.

Even so, they just lost to the Leafs who are playing basically zero NHL regulars. If the Pens sit Crosby, Letang, and obviously MAF, and Malkin are out they are bringing a much better team to the ice then the Leafs did tonight.

Who did they lose to during the hot streak?

It's mind numbing how the continually play down to the opposition.

The only reason the Flyers are here is because the last 6 weeks they've been one of the best teams in hockey despite all their limitations and injuries. In record and in underlying numbers. But it does seem that now they're gasping for air for the final push.

It's probably just easier to say they all suck and they're not "trying" hard enough. What a riot. I'm in April and enjoying meaningful hockey in a season that has had it's ups and downs but has been better than I could've imagined. And it's just the opening scene of things to come. People, man. People. And guess what? If they miss the playoffs, this draft is stacked even at 14. There is no bad to this season. Zilch.

Man. I'll tell you this. Great effort and super run to get here. Really bodes well for the future. I think it shows the core is solid and we'll be contending in 2 to 3 years. When you look at th last bit, it looks like they're out of gas. Just can't lose to the leafs at home like that and expect to make it. Doesn't mean they all suck. Even if we do t make it. Lots of positives IMO.

All playing young scrappy and hungry and doing what Toronto did first 2 periods today?

Whoever plays, they have to come out like they did in the third tonight. And I'd prefer two wins. But if Detroit or Boston would like to lose in regulation Saturday, I'll take a win or two loser points.

Hey Getting in the lottery isn't as hopeless as before. They'll have shots even if it's marginal at all 3 top picks

In October, I had conceded a lost season. Since Gost came up, it's been fun to watch him and then the team. And the past 6 weeks have made it worth it to have the season ticket.

The highest they've been in the standings is tied for the last playoff spot. If they don't get in, they just didn't get it. It isn't like they were in 3rd place in the division and fell out of it. Let's hope Boston does that. Or Detroit. But in any case they didn't blow anything. I'm hoping for a little stardust this weekend, though.

They lost to the Leafs, beat the Caps. Doesn't mean they're the worst or the best team. Stuff happens. Hell the awful Leafs beat the Ducks and Panthers within the last couple weeks. No team is a pushover. It just seems the Flyers aren't playing their game. I can't see any other reason than fatigue. Can't use it as an excuse when other teams are in the same boat, but it is probably true.

There are so many positives to this season: a season coming off a 7th worst finish, where the expectation this year was probably not much better; best case being sneak in as a wild card. And here we are right around that best case. And they're not done yet. And if they miss they miss. But if seasons like this are judged by process, then it's been quite a success.

I really want this team to be rewarded for their run and get into the dance. It'll speed the rebuild up. Hexy doesn't trade youth for short term fixes so yeah we're gonna have fun at the draft. Just want that offseason to be quite as long
