This is the exact reason why the garden sounds like a library half the time... we've got too many "cool guy" fans that would rather "be right" about the team being bad, then they would cheer and support the team. Too many "pink hats" who joined the bandwagon after 2011 that claim to be HARDCORE hockey fans, that got into the sport because it was the cool thing to do, rather than actually having interest in the game.

These "real fans" just want to complain about everything, and they show literally zero faith in the team... how you even consider yourself an actual fan is beyond me.

The actual real fans knew all along that this would be a tough season, and that the team would be fighting tooth and nail for a playoff spot. And we were encouraged by what the team has shown over the year, and hopeful that they would make it to the playoffs. They knew the team wasn't going to be a Presidents Trophy candidate, but they still wanted the team to succeed... not see the team tank for the possibility of a decent draft position. And the real fans realize what Don Sweeney was handed, and while we might question some of his moves, we realize that he is trying to to the best with the situation he was given... I'd say he's done a pretty damn good job thus far.

Anyone using the term "real fan" is just a homer. I have my opinions of a team that I spend good money on a yearly basis and I'm allowed to critique and criticize however I the (frank) I want. Get this garbage "real fan' nonsense out of here. This administration deserves as much blame and praise when things go right. Why would we show any faith in this team when they haven't given us any reason to. This team doesn't have any "real balls" and outside of the FLA road trip when they beat both teams back to back they haven't really shown the ability to win the big game. Now we will see if this team with its ass to the fire in the last two games AT HOME can make the playoffs.

Fandom isn't blindly believing in your team, it's following and having an opinion of what the team does while rooting for them. I see no reason why people get their panties in a bunch when bozos like myself critique and criticize a team that thinks they are smarter than the rest of the NHL and "BIG BAD BRUINS HOCKEY" is the how the game should be played. As far as I can tell this administration is wasting some prime years of some top talent ie Bergeron, Krejci, Chara by not allowing a guy like Seguin to develop into the player he is today.

The garden prior to the Stanley cup used to be rocking. It does not rock anymore. We have season tickets and sometimes I'd rather stay at home then have to go listen to the misery in that building.

Thanks for confirming this. Living 14 hours from Boston, I don't get to many home games, so I watch them all on Gamecentre (outside of the games in Toronto, Ottawa, Buffalo and Montreal that I am able to attend). On TV, the crowds sound very quiet compared to other rinks. I thought maybe it was the rink microphones because Bruins crowds have a reputation of being loud and proud. I'm a strong believer that crowd support is super motivating for the players, so let's hope "real" fans show up tonight and Saturday.

you've seen how they play at home right? it's a real simple formula. they suck at home and for the most part are just boring.

this = quiet building.

It's gotten to the point where it's more fun watching to watch the other teams in the NHL. People don't get fired up over hard back checks or a good stick lift. The Bruins just have a lack of skill, goal scoring players. I think if CJ gets fired and ends up in say Colorado the guy could win another Cup.

In the biggest game of the year for the Bruins, they will be on NESN Plus, hahaha I don't even know what channel that is. How are they not on NESN? I know the Sox are on at 5 but this is ridiculous.

Harry Sinden is still pulling the strings somewhere deep inside the Garden.

Jacobs + Sinden = Cheap mother(frank)ers who just want to make that playoff $$

The guy is just a yesman to Neely. Sweeney and Neely as the main brain trust of this group will only ensure mediocrity at the VERY best

Thanks for posting that article. So if they miss the playoffs again, the blame will fall to Julien for not coaching this group with the craptacularly built D to the playoffs.

If Julien hits the the open market, teams are going to line up, and he will likely get paid BIG TIME

Why do you think the building is like that? This team gives us nothing. Even in the game against Carolina, the chants were going, and they still give us nothing. Their record at home has nothing to do with the Garden crowd? You win, they cheer. Simple.

Wasn't the crowd rocking the other night against Carolina? Thought the crowd wanted it more than the players with the, "we want playoffs," chants.

Around 28th in the NHL home record. Tied with the Sabers with 16 wins and only the Nucks and Leafs have fewer with 14.

I can't stand that chant. Or "We want the cup". Or "USA". I like a strong loud "Let's go Bruins". To get the guys going. Not sure how the players feel. Or if they even pay attention to it.

If the crowd is loud enough, its really difficult to ignore. When your home crowd is with you and creating thunderous applause or trying to rally your team, you feel like a (frank)ing gladiator. I have played in some pretty big venues (near sold out), and it is hard to describe, but I know it was something that got me fired up, no matter how tired I thought I was. The crowd can definitely play be a "second wind" to some players.

It can also be a negative motivator as well. Hockey is definitely a skill game, and a lot of in game skill comes from personal confidence. Hard to be confident when your crowd boos you off the ice or (for some teams) throwing your jersey on the ice.

To each there own I guess. Personally I don't care one way or the other. The USA chant is ironic because most of our team is Canadian or even scattered Europeans.

Detroit was roaring last night, but there team is awesome fun to watch though. Got to give the paying customers what they want.

Detroit is not that "awesome" to watch anymore. Maybe a few years ago when Datsyuk and Zetterberg were up there with the best.

The we want the playoffs chant is not my cup of tea. Its added pressure. Not support.

7th player award handed out tonight? No real clear-cut favorite, IMO. Bergeron's been great, but we expect nothing less... Marchand's had a good year, but not really surprising... the same for Loui and Krejci. Maybe Spooner? I can't believe I'm gonna say this, but is Kevin Miller a possibility? I didn't have a lot of expectation for him, but he has 18 points and is a +14, which is decent enough. Any thoughts?

Only said that because watching the Wings last night I saw a team that "wanted" to win and played like it. Full 60 minutes of hockey and beat one of the hottest teams in hockey.

That's what I meant. Maybe the Bs show that effort tonight? Who knows.

It was a great game. The wings played the game the right way. Mason was really strong as well.
I hope the Bruins bring that kind of intensity tonight. Or at least some desperation.
I'm guessing they will.

Miller is so raw. The dude gives it his all that's for sure. He makes it tough out there physically, but he needs a lot of seasoning. I don't hate him cause he's fun to watch most of the time.
