Last game at rexall, your team has something to play for. Do they show up?

That'll run coast-to-coast on all four Sportsnet regional feeds, so Leafs fans will also be able to tune in after watching the Toronto/Columbus game.

Uh, who cares about what leafs fans can or can't watch... i thought this was a Nux blog.

What's the point in playing Bartkowski over Pedan on defense?

Does this mean that the team has already determined he isn't worth developing at D?

Can this team afford to walk away from a D prospect considering their depth?

I think she was making fun of the fact that Toronto crap gets shoved down our throats, but now it is some other team getting shoved down theirs.

Agreed.
Also, why not bring up Subban to see what they have at this point?

They can if they've determined he doesn't have the chops to play D at the NHL level, as that turns from a prospect to a AHL player you're walking away from (big difference). I guess they think he could be a 4th line winger at this level despite not cutting on D. Also they've won 3 in a row with this lineup, why would they change it?

They've said all year he's staying in the A to develop there, beginning to end JB has said this and stuck to his guns. I have no problem with it, at least he's consistent. He's also said Subban will compete for a spot next year, to me the message is: work hard this off-season, you may get a shot next year.

Fair enough. But when the games don't matter at this point, it's a unique opportunity to see the progress of prospects in real NHL games versus the pre-season. Give him the last three games. We have enough players on IR that it's possible for them to do it.

Ya I wouldn't mind it either, give him a taste as he has done really well this season and perhaps deserves one or two games. Maybe if they lose tonight he will get a chance. I'm not sure if it's another Shink situation where JB/MGMT have decided against the player, I kind of hope not as I like the small guys who defy the expectations. Put him on a line with Tree

They know all these guys progress, we've seen plenty of prospects in real NHL games this year. I would them rather work closely with Tryamkin in the last 3 games.

I have no problem with Subban being in the AHL, the Comets have been playing well and can't afford to lose more players. Subban still has a way's to go and really like the fact that they have been limiting his minutes and developing him.

I agree but would be nice to see them give Pedan another 3 games as a D as well before trying to convert him to a forward. Physical forwards who can play 5 min a night are a dime a dozen, it's a lot harder finding even a bottom pairing D, especially one who can play physical.

You don't care if Pedan gets more of a shot? or not concerned about his development? or just at the woodpile ?

it would make sense to see if we could have another physical big dman to give big western team forwards something to think about when they are coming into the zone or battling in front of the net...

I tend to agree, Bart has been brutal. Perhaps they have decided They know what they have w Pedan on D and they want to see if he can be useful on the wing? It does seem a bit strange

Subban is where he should be. Hopefully being a part of a playoff run (and a key contributor) and after some heavy lifting this summer perhaps he will get a few games

If Pedan hasn't impressed by now then send him back, if he can't make this defense

I agree, let him help the Comets if it has been decided he doesn't have a future here.

Pedan has made defensive mistakes for sure, but it is a position that takes the longest to develop and is usually the most obvious when mistakes happen. I like his physicality and mobility. I hope they give him a real chance to develop at defence. Having the ability to play forward when needed is a bonus, ala Byfuglien/Burns. We just need to be patient, because we won't be truly competitive for a while.

Comets are up 6 points and have a game in hand with 5 games remaining over the team below them so it looks like they should probably make the playoffs. With the addition of Hensick and Gaunce and Pedan likely returning after the NHL season, I could see them make some noise.

It's too premature to make that call. He has made solid strides in Utica

I would agree and would prefer they play him at D and again don't understand the point in trying to convert him to a winger at this point.
