I see Barrie being the first core piece being moved if we tap into that group. Avs are a budget team and if he is seeking more than $6 million he will get the O'Reilly treatment and go to arbitration as we look to move him.

I'm all in on grabbing Taylor Hall out of Edmonton and then upgrading the defense through free agency and giving Bigras, Zadorov, and even Siemens a shot if he can ever get to the level of expectations of a #11 overall pick. Siemens is most likely a bust or bottom pairing D based on his development thus far, but maybe he'll be a late bloomer and exceed expectations.

MacKinnon will sign a bridge deal this summer. All this talk about him signing a long-term deal is delusional. I'll bet he goes for 2 years at $4 million and then cashes in once Iginla and Beauchemin money has been made available.

Avs are not a budget team...and Barrie is not being traded...especially for a forward.
Remember the Avs spent to the cap 2 seasons ago, The shed salary to afford to sign barrie and MacKinnon long term.

Roy is going to get shown the door before they make a drastic change....everyone and their dog in the media, analytics world is pointing the finger back at him with how bad he has mismanaged the roster and deployed his players.

If they dont have him step down/promote/whatever from HC and move valuable players instead, this organization might be the more poorly ran one in all of sports, not just hockey, but all of sports

Nope duchene ia staying put. Take away the 11 games in the beginning of the year, he is a point a game player, number one center in the nhl. Him and mack make an amazing one-two punch down the center, add soderberg (who really has played well this year) as ypur third ypur set at center.

I don't see anyone of value being moved. A core of duchene, Landy, MacK, barrie and ej is pretty good. Barrie amd mack will resign. I can't see anyone being moved this year. This group gets Roy for one more year before something changes. I think the coach will go before a core guy, unless the signing turns into a O'Reilly thing again but i don't see that happening

Coga the Avs ARE a BUDGET team. They have set their budget for high-end players at $6,000,000. That's what Duchene and Johnson are getting. You can even say Varlamov and Landeskog fall under the $6,000,000 price tags since their deals are almost at that price.

O'Reilly wanted more than $6,000,000 so he was moved. If Barrie wants more than $6,000,000 he will be moved. If MacKinnon wants a long-term deal of over $6,000,000 the Avs will give him a bridge deal before the payday comes. You can't hand out $6,000,000+ to a player who hasn't proven himself yet.

Just cause you spend all your time posting your thoughts on hockeybuzz doesn't give you any credibility on what the reality of the Avs is.

If the Avs don't go after a first line player along the lines of Hall in a trade or grab up one of the top free agents then I'll be shocked. Guarantee it happens. Roy and Sakic know they need to add a legitimate top tier player to get this team the edge it needs to win. Top tier teams have one or two players that they turn to when they need a big goal. The Avs don't have that unless MacKinnon and Duchene can become those players. Face the facts and watch the Avs go after that high end goal scorer or we'll be in the same boat this time next year. Sakic and Roy have too much pride to let their former club be a subpar team that literally lost out on the playoffs due to their own poor play.

Change is coming, so embrace it.
