I thought the same thing, but after watching him a lot this year, I think he's pretty decent with some huge upside. 40 point D man are pretty rare and I think as he gets' older he'll be better at preventing shots.

As for Jones, I think RNH is a better player than Ryan Johansen, so if that was true I don't know what Nashville was thinking. But Jones is going to win a Norris one day, so I don't know, it might have been worth overpaying.

Dougie Hamilton = Tyler Myers.

Very good #2 or #3, always leaves you wanting more

I think Prince wrote Manic Monday for the Bangles. So you can probably add Suzanna to his long list of " girlfriends"

Most of the good laughs come from tasteless causes*. That's why all the fun is slowly being sucked out of western civilization.

In fact I challenge anybody to name a time they had a good laugh that wasn't, at least indirectly, to someone else's expense or disadvantage.

This is actually true and it turns out I was correct - and that the other poster turned out to have been just giving me a hard time with no actual clue as to proper usage rules. For the record, I have been employed as both an editor and an English teacher, but writing and editing your own work is quite difficult, as anyone who has written (especially those of us without the luxury of an editor) can attest to. Thanks for the hot-tip though, I will correct the spelling.
- James_Tanner

It's got nothing to do with editing. If you were an expert, you wouldn't have misspelled such a simple word in the first place. It's not a typo - it's a spelling mistake

Not a big deal. Grammar isn't everyone's thing. You've written an entertaining blog here. Who cares if you aren't proficient with grammar, spelling, etc. Honestly not a big deal, man

Along the lines of your preamble, I've gotten, not one, but two updates from the NHL app in the past week about Justin Bieber wearing NHL jerseys in public. Pathetic corporate marketing department idiocy...

I know, right? They were on Sportsnet the other day talking about it for like five minutes. Who cares? I

Hamiltons not even that good. A mediocre top 4 guy with some offence. High potential sure. But he's not better than either of klefbom or sekera in anything but hype.
Plus, by all accounts the Bruins took marginally less from the flames than giving him to outgoing chiarelli.

As far as Jones; i think your argument is way too much assumption. What seals the deal beyond nuge? I can only speak for myself, but if i want johansen for some of the reasons that seem obvious, another middling pick doesn't sway me to go with nuge instead Nor does even adding yaks.

And this isn't taking into account that he was probably lowballed by gms doing their job and taking advantage of a desperate gm.

I don't believe there was any reasonable offer for the first before said gms know what it is. Gotta think both sides wanna get good value, but neither side knows what that value actually is

Unfortunately, unlike you, I can't look at a 21 year old defenseman and declare he'll never make the NHL. It's bad asset management at the least. At worst, they gave up a future top four NHL dman.

right now it looks like they gave a up a minor league dman who isn't doing squat in the ahl.

so what is more likely:

A) he turns into a future top 4 nhl dman
or
B) he is career minor league guy

yet when he was on waivers not one team, not one, claimed him. Surely there is at at least 1 competent GM out there who would have seen this possible future top 4 talent no? So help me understand why no one would have taken a chance on this former 21 year old first rd pick.

How is it bad asset management when he clearly didn't have any value?

Coyotes have the worst rebuild? I think they are the most improved team this year, from last. Record wise. They showcased their rookies and young goaltender. Their older guys played well and were great leaders. Doan was a beast! 28 goals at 39yrs old. They still have Strome and a great batch of prospects. Hopefully they can get out of Glendale soon, and get back to Phoenix, Where the people are.

Very entertaining blog James.
But i am sure i will just be playing "gotcha" when i remind you of the fact that All year long you have been praising Chiarelli for being patient and holding onto all that Edmonton talent, Yet now at the end of yet another disappointing season he is the worst GM out there for not making a bold move?

Hey I think the Oilers have a good team and I doubt any team makes the playoffs with their injuries but you gotta make some kind of effort to add what your missing. Maybe his patience will payoff.

Hey, I sort of agree with the patience part. Why amass all this talent just to blow it up?

A move is neccessary. RNH for a D man. Add some bottom 6 depth

How about a award for the blogger who most rather be writing a blog for any other (but preferably the Oilers or Leafs) team then they are currently writing for.

And the winner goes to......

Honestly, I'm happy to have any team to write for. Who cares? Don't take it so seriously, there doesn't need to be any more writers covering teams news and recapping games, but there is a massive opening for honest, entertaining, interesting and provocative hockey writers.

I'm not saying I do that, but that's the goal.

So I don't really care what team I write about. I guess I'd rather write for a team with a bigger audience, all other things being equal, but the Coyotes are fine - they just happen to be terrible and poorly managed, so I have to be quite critical of them, and of course, game reviews and recaps are pretty boring for a last place team, so you get what you get.

Would you rather I was just taking you through the motions on news you can get anywhere?
