and like someone mentioned, they did not have that go-to superstar to put them on their back...also, not so sure if Foligno should be captain

Interesting article in the Buffalo News.

I completely understand the revenue sharing aspect. The fans that say "I don't understand why the Sabres need it" are way off base here.

However, having been to 10 other NHL arenas, they are right in saying when it comes to arena atmosphere, First Niagara Center is outright amateur hour. Hopefully, eventually winning games will help, but it's not everything. When you go to places like Toronto, Montreal, New York, and Detroit, you feel like you are at a big time event. That's not the case with the Sabres. The arena production (and MSG Buffalo's as well) feels like it's being run out of a makeshift studio out of somebody's basement. The Sabres need give its patrons way more bang for their buck, especially in lean times like this. The NHL outsourced its production to Major League Baseball, and the visuals on both the NHL Network and NHL.com has been night and day. I think it's time for the Sabres to go down a similar path.

Need the Broncos to trade for Kap so the media will stop talking about the Avs.....Need it
- DDM-Coga

Broncos Kap would fit Kubiaks offense perfectly I would like to see it happen. Carrying over from the last blog Boedker over the past 4 years averages 0.6/game over a full 82 game season that averages out to 50 points. This year he had 39 points in 62 games while with Arizona (never played with domi or duclair, minimal time with Hanzel) Since the trade to the Avs he has 11 points in his last 14 games playing with actual NHL players. So yea i don't see the big deal paying a guy close to 6 M per who can go out and get you around 65 points playing alongside ROR or Eichel and be the second faster skater on your team.

with all due respect to those who liked that piece, I hated it...came off as whiney...

why this need to be entertained every second?...or the need to leave the arena with free souvenirs made in a sweat shop in china?

Only thing I dont like about Boedker is how invisible he is on the ice, more often than not he is caught looking soft on the puck, turns it over often. Hes effective when he is entering the zone with speed....he might put up points (until with the Avs his biggest knock was he was only a PP guy, he has put up more 5v5 points which is encouraging)

I dont think he is even clsoe to 6m. If you spend over 5m on him, you will have Matt Moulson 2.0. Boedker and ROR would not mesh well in my opinion

4.5m max for him, anymore than that, then its into bad contract territory

So when you go to an original six who are also playoff teams its more exciting... thanks didnt know that. Ive also been to arena like Tampa while in playoff mixes and its a snooze fest and the excitement is the advertisement for the next big concert coming. Been to Columbus also snooze city when they are winning its loud when they suck its crickets. My brothers best friend was a season ticket holder prior to Kane/Toews and there was no atmosphere there either. It dosent help us either that the Leaves also blow, most of us here remember the old days of a good ole hockey rivalry.

Pretty sure he's dead. Had a nice conversation with some guy on Twitter named @Pelly who had some very colorful remarks when I said that I thought it was a clean hit. Apparently Wilson is the worst person on the planet and deserves to be burned at the stake with me as the kindling.
- Zschalberg

With you as the kindling wow...

But as I said a couple of days ago, that was as clean of a yard sale hit that you will ever see in the NHL these days.

Yes Wilson is one of the most hated players in the league and he deserves that reputation but that hit was clean.

Columbus the last time I was there was in 2011 it was as total boring atmosphere and the Sabres lost 4-0 so the C-Bus fans had something to cheer about but they didnt

As Stripes, can at least a lot of these southern cities its more of a event to start your night out. They leave early to go out and party on the town. They could care less about the product on the ice. Tampa really shocked me as they had a real good team and still its dead. Rows open all over the place

That's what professional sports is nowadays. The game isn't enough. You have to put on a show. The sad part is, the Sabres were pretty good at that before and just after the lockout. Then Golisano started cutting costs, and the Pegulas still are lacking in bringing it back. It comes with the territory of being in a big time league.

Philadelphia, Washington, and Pittsburgh also blow Buffalo's out of the water. Buffalo's atmosphere isn't the worst in the league, but it's also far from the best.
