i'm so tired of the "he put himself in a bad position". plain and simple the onus is on the player throwing the check. |

Did we praise the hit when Rinaldo boarded Letang? I sure didn't.
Players turn and face the boards all the time because they can protect the puck that way and because the rules don't allow them to be driven into the boards just because they are facing them. Kuhnhackl is looking directly at the "47" when he hits him. MacDonald fell, but that just mean his head got rammed into the boards rather than the glass. - Feanor
So you're comparing the hit yesterday to Rinaldo charging from across the ice and throwing a flying hit directly to the back of Letang long after the puck was gone? I didn't really see any similarities between the 2 other than the player being in a bad spot and an injury resulting. I guess Kuhnhackl should have politely asked AMac if he could have the puck, because he wasn't allowed to touch him. |

Kuhn: "Excuse me good sir, may I be allowed to relinquish the puck from your possession?"
Kuhnhackl... like a Sir. |

These last few pens games remind me of the rangers games of recent years where we don't stand a chance unless Mason plays out of his mind. Imo it has nothing due with the flyers and their effort and everything to do with the pens speed and execution. There may be no way around it until we inject more speed and skill in the lineup. Laughton should have dressed this game the flyers need to match with speed |

Rinaldo actually caught Letang as much in the shoulder as in the back, which is easy to tell because the 5 on Letang's sweater remained visible the whole time. It wasn't the lateness or the location of the hit that made it bad, it was that Letang was defenseless.
As Bill tweeted yesterday.
"Rule 41.1: The onus is on the player
applying the check to ensure his opponent is not in a defenseless
position and if so, he must avoid or minimize contact."
"He had the opportunity not to drive through the hit on a defenseless player". |

Anyone know what game the Brandon-Edmonton series is in? I saw that Brandon won last night but I'm not sure what game that was. |

So looks like the Flyers have to win against the Red Wings, Maple Leafs & Islanders to secure their playoff spot. The next Pittsburgh game is without a doubt another loss. |

Yeah Hakstol doesn't need to make tweaks and adjustments. He has to do a complete overhaul of his lineup to even hope to matchup against the Penguins. It's night and day concerning the vast difference between these 2 clubs right now. |

Also I understand that this website has a ton of Philadelphia Flyers fans and regular users on here, but show some franking tact with the Penguins trolling over here. |

Looks like Detroit has the gauntlet |

Not true. When you learn to play hockey growing up, you're supposed to be taught how to not put yourself in bad positions so you prevent injury and to keep your head up. Players think the DoPS and rules will protect them too much. |

I agree that Letang and Kuhnakcle should have been penalized for those plays, I also find it hilarious that the writer failed to even mention Wayne's throat slash in his entire super lengthy play by play description.
Holy bias glasses. |

The Q website is actually pretty good. But the WHL leaves a lot to be desired. They pick and choose which games they're gonna tally individual shots. I always thought that was weird. |

How funny is it that he's not going to get suspended or fined but if he looked at a penguin and did the throat slash gesture he would. That was no accident. Your talking about players that can perfectly deflect a tiny rubber disc traveling at them at 90 mph +. I just don't think he intended to get it stuck up under the mask as long as it did. I think he intends it to be more of a tap |

I always find it kind of comical when guys who sit on their ass and watch the game from a couch get so worked up they find a need to cry about it to another fan base.

I think the Flyers only need 2 more wins to make it in...4 points probably gets them in...5 points to be sure
Crazier things have happened, but Boston kind of has to win out at this point |

Agreed, win in regulation against the Wings and Laffs and they are pretty much in.
