So I am thinking here that Radek MArtinek should be ready to fill the shoes or Carkner at this point. Pulock is being wasted and well this does not bode well for our young players. In light of all this another first round exit. Same script every year I Dont expect anything more or less |

Cappy says he has to evaluate defensive pairings in light of Hamonic injury but prefers experience. Pulock is fine.
All about the experience - NYI44

99% of the time the player without a stick is completely ineffective anyway. You can bail for 3 seconds or just stand around and pretend that you're helping. - eichiefs9
A forward doesn't "need" the stick as he's still able to block shots. In 3 seconds any team in the NHL could take advantage of a guy leaving to get a stick and score. You just gotta do your best to block something and try and get the puck out. |

strait has a bottom five corsi number for the entire league - Dan Petriw
Corsi doesn't measure HEART Dan.
Did any one wonder if Strait actually meant to miss the net by 3 ft on the Tavares goal. Im going to say he was trying to SNIPE a goal of his own.
I hope this Hamonic missing rest of season and Zidlicky back will be followed up by a APRILS FOOLS. Otherwise we are in trouble.

I actually agree Bailey should be on line with Prince and Kuli.
I also love the idea of Cal on top line with JT.

Yeah and 20 years ago no coach in the world would condone having a roster without at least one talentless goon dressed per game. Coaches not condoning something is far from an indicator of correctness. |

Theres noooooo way he meant to miss the net. I was laughing at that too. He totally missed the net and they got a lucky bounce. |

Dude you just dont do it. No NHL coach would allow for that to happen. You do not leave the play. that is why when a defenseman breaks his stick you will see a forward hand him his stick. IF that skater has to go get a stick then like Dan says it is a 6 on 3 and more than likely a goal |

None of these are legitimate reasons that would convince me to believe that it wouldn't be more beneficial than standing around like a traffic cone serving next-to-no purpose. This also has absolutely nothing to do with giving a defenseman your stick if he breaks his. |

I think I'd rather the Isles go get a stick especially since they do not like to block shots. They seem helpless when the stick breaks. Maybe other teams do a better job? |

And this is why you would never be able to play hockey at a high level. So putting your team down another man means nothing to you? I am sure your team mates would think different and you would be sitting on the bench |

If you leave you are breaking your formation. While not having a stick sucks you still have a chance to block a shot or get in the way. If you leave.. All the seams are open and you are completely exposed |

They're already down a man because the player is just standing there doing literally nothing.
Let's be real here, Frans blocking that shot was great and all, but any half-competent defenseman would have never opted to shoot that puck directly at him. Had whoever it was not taken the shot Frans would have been on his knees and completely useless.
So, in summation, you can stand around and do nothing. Or you can bust your ass to the bench and go get something that can help you become effective again.
Save the "you didn't play hockey at a high level" garbage, too. Because A) you have no idea what level of hockey I played at and B) I highly doubt you played at a level high enough to be casting aspersions on anyone who thinks outside of the "Old Time NHL-approved" way of thinking. |

Exactly Frans did the right thing and blocked the shot. this is what they tell you if you lose or break your stick during a play. Just stop the puck with your body |
