Because he no longer has that. The speculation has always been that they will move whichever defender is most difficult to re-sign. If Lindholm and ANA have an ROR moment than we should be all over that. Fowler is doing a lot for them at just 4 mil, no incentive to move him. I think most likely is Vatanen but I don't know what either of them are asking for.

I'd imagine they could keep Lindholm on a 3 year deal at about 3.5M or so at absolute MAX for a bridge.

Although they could straight Tyler Myers the situation too.. but I doubt it.

murray still needs to keep the foot on the gas pedal this off season though
- homiedclown

Well yes because despite managing to be "in it" for almost every game in march, have to keep in mind they played a lot of crapy teams.

For the first 55 minutes they were invisible against detroit and they had a 2009 sabres edition collapse against Pittsburgh.

Gionta's forecheck has been noticable too in creating chances and turnovers. A few have turned into goals that I can remember.
- JVince11

So will he keep that up next year? He's what, 35? (Just looked, he's 37). Is he going to be able to do this for another whole year? If so, where does Girgs slot? Just a quick look at lines:

88-90-9
52-15-23
82-12-22
44-28-19

Assuming we get McGinn (Or someone else) to play top 6 then that pushes either Girgs or Fasching to the 4th line. Girgs is the vet but does that mean that he's earned more than Fasching? Maybe. These line combos also assume Moulson isn't playing and that Ennis is gone.

they have to move 1 d man

in essence they need to find 3 guys for their top 9 and once they pay the rfa's they will have about 3 mil left if they keep both lindholm and vatanen

He's offer sheet eligible i think so he may not be too interested in a 3 year bridge. His defensive #'s are off the charts, like norris level. I'd have no problem paying the big bucks, Anaheim would though.

If that Mirtle tweet pissed Murray off, he needs to get thicker skin.

Comments like that come with the territory when you purposely lose for an entire year. I was on board with what Murray did, but people aren't going to forget.

I know young team and all and i have been impressed but homie's right now is not the time for false hope that because player x scored big this month we should lock him up long term. Keep your foot on the gas and finish what you started

That the Sabres are shutting Lehner down and replacing him with an Old boot.

Basically implying we are trying to lose our remaining games. Murray said there was no place for comments like that.

Agreed but it wasn't totally unexpected. In fact he handled it much better than uncle bryan did when he went after a reporter

watchout for bernieritis with Fasching...he came in like a lion, but he came back down to earth...granted training camp will tell the tale, but right now, I wouldn't be surprised if he spent some time in rochester next season...and, imo, that's a good thing

twitter will drive you crazy if you're in the business...there are way too many instances where people overanalyze, overreact and end up saying something really stupid...

Edmonton is 26 in GA, 26 in GF (Buffalo is 27th), 23rd in SF (Buffalo 17), 26th in SA (Buffalo 23).

They have better players, a generational talent, a new coach, a new GM, are not better than us. They cry injuries, which is fine, Edmonton is 3rd in man game lost with 343 (Buffalo is 5th with 307 https://www.mangameslost....games-lost-march-26-2016/).

That team needs to do something and do it fast. Otherwise it's time to do another big overhaul.

- Zschalberg

RNH should be moved for a top pairing guy, and Yak should still bring back a middle pairing guy. Losing those guys wouldn't hurt that offense at all, and would seriously step up their defense. And, even than they would still have a kick butt player in their first rounder this year.

seasoning in Rochester is never a bad idea save for the obvious--mcjesus, Eichel, etc...

Check the standings. There are only a couple teams crappier than the Sabres. A few times this year there were none.

I agree. If they do that they still have great pieces for a good offensive team. Namely McDavid and Hall. Build the defense up and they can be okay. But we've said this for years. New GM got to evaluate his players this year. This offseason hopefully they do what you've said.
