I think if Ghost has another game or 2 where he does the clutch thing, he shouldn't be denied.
The case for McDavid is compelling. However, personally I go with the guy who seemingly turned his team in to a (fingers crossed) playoff team.

I don't back read very often but reading the Ghost vs McDavid debate was like not being able to put down a really good book, nor was one side insulting the other.
Ghost is a defenseman who basically put his team over the top to making the playoffs after being called up from the minors. He didn't win a spot out of camp. Ghost has put up points but also has made dynamic plays.

I don't back read very often but reading the Ghost vs McDavid debate was like not being able to put down a really good book, nor was one side insulting the other.
Ghost is a defenseman who basically put his team over the top to making the playoffs after being called up from the minors. He didn't win a spot out of camp. Ghost has put up points but also has made dynamic plays.

Ghost has been great. One can't deny that he added a dynamic to the blue line that has been missing for some time. His lead-changing goals are also nothing to sneeze at.
That being said, I think you're minimizing the play of players like Grioux, Mason, Schenn, Coots, etc. when you say that Ghost put his team over the top. The fact of the matter is that this team was playing below expectations on the early part of the season. If you want to credit Ghost as being a "spark plug", I'd agree with that. But overall team play is why this team is now in playoff contention.
I don't watch enough Oilers/Hawks hockey to know how good those guys are. As nice as a ROY award would be for the Flyers, there's really no losing. If he gets the award, it should improve his confidence. If he doesn't, he likely gets a chip on his shoulder (which seems to be a running theme) and takes it out on the league. Same goes for Giroux and team Canada.

Ghosts dynamics are why we're making the playoffs. We should have made it last season but we didn't have the same dynamics.
