How is that even a penalty??? Coots was pushed into Holbty, it's BS that he would get a goaltender interference call. That is something the league really needs to change. If a defender pushes the other team's player into their goalie, then guess what, it's your fault you took your goalie out of the play and any goals scored should count and no penalty assessed.

Didn't get to watch the game, but I woke up this morning and couldn't believe I wasn't still dreaming that we won a shoot out. Great effort boys!!

- Tomfan365

He was, but he also added a little "extra" to the contact, whereas Beagle didn't. It's a moot point as he took Holtby to the box with him so...

If they get 7 points, and 2 of them are a regulation win vs. Detroit, they'll make it. That's a huge game, though.
- jmatchett383

The game vs. Detroit is huge. Detroit plays tomorrow night vs. Minnesota. It's basically must win for them. Sucks the Wild will be on the second night of a back to back.

Wings play the Wild tomorrow night. Wild are fighting for a playoff spot. If they can beat the Wings in reg that would be huge. Even bigger if the Flyers back that up with a win on Sat. Then its magic number talk time.
- hockeylover

Yeah. Wild on a second night of a back to back tomorrow though.

I agree. And to call it in OT, after you had just given the caps a PP is basically trying to decide the game instead of letting them play.
- Hextall271

Um, that was a dumb play by Simmonds. He gave the Caps the PP, not the refs.

Plus Sens may be missing one of best players Stone after that crushing hit from Big Buff.

That was a fantastic hit.

So, question:

Let's say the Flyers are 1 point behind Detroit/Boston for the 2nd wild card spot, and don't hold the ROW tiebreaker on the last game of the season. You get the game to OT and there is one minute left.

Do you pull the goalie?

Thought that too.

Sometimes some Hartnell comes out in Simmonds. He didn't need to slash down, could have just skated with him and still been in position.

In a FB scrap with someone who thinks Ryan White is useless and its ridiculous that he is on the 2nd PP unit.
- jak521

Uh, this is Houston. Roger that. But you got yourself into that mess, you're going to have to get yourself out of it.

Eh, in real time I thought he did his best to pull up and didn't crash Mason.
- Scoob

He might've tried, but the end result was still pretty obvs GI.

It's over for one of Boston or Detroit last night. If the flyers walked away with any kind of points last night I felt that was the case. It's over for one of them just 5 games to go

Absolutely.

I even maybe think about it at the 2 minute mark and get the 4 on 3 PP type setup.

No
If they're only 1 point behind, they just need to win. OT or shootout, 2 points gets them in.

I don't want Stolarz starting that game. That is 2 points that the Flyers have to get. Losing that game is not an option. Putting a rookie goalie with zero NHL experience makes that a very loseable game. I know you want to give Mason a rest, but I'd honestly rather play Stolarz against Pittsburgh one of the 2 games. We're 0-2 on the season against them, and could easily lose that game with Mason. If you want a game to rally around a guy, I can't think of a better matchup.
- jmatchett383

At this point I don't think he should get a start until/unless a playoff spot is clinched.

Agreed, especially since they still have to play each other. Boston seems to be in free fall at this point too.

I'd play him in Toronto. The turnaround is too short for me to want to start Mase both games.

Right. But you're 10-5 in OT and 3-8 in shootouts. I know we have a recent history of making the playoffs via shootout on the last day, but we're a much better 3v3 (or 4v3) OT team. I'm asking, would you go for the 4v3 to avoid having to go to a shootout?

The 4-in-5 is a killer. It would be nice to clinch with 2 games left.

That is why I would pull the goalie. I don't trust the shootout.

They are 10-5 in OT with a goalie in the net
