Mike Richards and Nick Backstrom got SPANKED in the dot!

Richards only won 33% of his draws.

Backstrom won 7%!!!

The Flyers overall smoked the dot winning 59% of the faceoffs!

Faceoff wins equal possession.

It feels like over this 17 game stretch the Flyers have dominated the faceoff more times then not.

Also, again in this 17 game stretch the Flyers have kicked the habit of penalties.

This team is just sooo damn lovable!!!

I think the discipline that they've shown has been fantastic.

I haven't looked up the stats, but at the game it seemed like the Flyers killed it at the faceoff dot but struggled big time winning faceoffs on the PP.

So happy this team pulled out the W. It helped shut up this bum hole who was sitting in the section next to me but only a few seats away because I'm on the aisle seat. You'd think he was Trotz's assistant coach with the way he talked. I have no problem with fans rooting for the opposition, but I have a problem when they're loud and overly obnoxious about it which this guy was. Of course he pulled out the whole "well we didn't need that extra point anyway" line. He wasn't wrong, just a tool.

So you think goalie interference should have been called? With all the other poop that happened in this game, that's the play you think the refs missed? The OT goalie interference call was horrible. Calling interference on that play would have been horrible.
- Blackstrom2

Well I agree. if they don't call the interference on Mase, let it go when Cooter runs into Holtby. Just let the boys play.

I think it would be cool if the #1 seed got to pick if they wanted the 7 or 8 seed
- YuenglingJagr

Wouldn't that be weird. If you got "picked" holy motivational!

I'd like to get into the 7 seed just so when we reach the Conference finals that we'll have home ice vs Detroit or Boston..

Last night was a great win but as expected, did the Caps really bring their A Game? They didn't looked like a president's winning trophy team at all.

I have no idea why at all. That's why I am glad Cooter smacked into Holtby, and even happier he retaliated for the even up.
- Hextall271

To me..the Caps player clearly tries to pull up but he was also in a different position than Couturier was...

In the end I am glad neither goalie was hurt.

For sure, but I think both players could have avoided hitting the goaltender.

I am wondering if Hextall uses one of those extra 3rds and tries to package with MacDonald to move him.
- J35Bacher

I don't think you need to add picks, just take back a somewhat similar contract.

Buffalo need LHD, and have guys like Moulson and Ennis not helping them in any meaningful way.

So any thoughts on Chimera getting a call from the league office. Considering landing a butt end is an automatic major and game misconduct? I know Ghost slashed him earlier but that is still no excuse for that sleazy play.

Great win for the team last night. Now up to a 88% chance.

Looks like last night will be the first round matchup. Buckle your safety belts folks it'll be a bumpy ride.

Was checking building availability for the series and it looks like both building are open most of the first week except for a Soul game on Sunday at 4 which probably would get slid either to 1 or a 8 if they wanted that day.

- dragonoffrost

Chimera actually went at Ghost first, pulling his helmet over his eyes to which Ghost slashed back. the butt end was a Richard move.

Hextall will not be trading assets to get rid of players people!!!! There is simply no need. It is terrible asset management
- YuenglingJagr

You know the Flyers probably could have gotten a better return on Schenn alone then trading Schenn with Vinny.

It's not terrible asset management if it lets you accomplish what you want.

He did try to pull up, but it was too late, he was in the crease and he collided with the goalie hard enough to knock the net off. Hell he even looked at the ref thinking it was a penalty.

At least with Couts, he is being directed by the d-man. Both are penalties, but if you dont call the one on Beagle, dont call the other on Couts. Crazy how terrible the officials have been at times over the past month or so.

More and more I grow impressed with Hak as a coach.

Short of Ghost this is the same team as last year but they have transformed into something very enjoyable vs a team that folds easily.

To me , best part of this is watching Schenn and Couturier take those next steps....

While I don't think it should be necessary, I agree that losing a 3rd rounder to free up a good amount of cap space is worth considering. Especially when you have a bunch of them.

That route would be ok.

Just trying to avoid an Umberger situation of taking back a guy that will keep me from bring up a young player I would rather have.

I was kind of ok if the moved MacDonald to Chicago for Bickell

I agree. And to call it in OT, after you had just given the caps a PP is basically trying to decide the game instead of letting them play.

Do I? Do you? I dont think the Flyers retain half of Schenn's salary unless LA took half of Vinny's. It was a package deal and they got a 3rd plus a guy LA needed to trade.

It also solves the problem of a jammed cap so the Flyers dont need to move assets to get rid of anyone

Kind of weird isn't it. Umby sits, and the team goes on a crazy tear. I sometimes forget he's on the team.

I think he could.

Unless Provorov is terrible in camp I don't see any way he goes to junior. So you have a 7 defenseman.

Schultz
Del Zotto
Gudas
MacDonald
Gostisbehere
Streit
Provorov

I would really try to move Streit as you have a couple two way guys in Provorov, Gostisbehere and Del Zotto.

Also I could see Alt moved into Mannings role or more if he has a good camp. He has good size and is a good skater.

- J35Bacher

By all accounts Morin continues to grow as a player he would bring size and toughness to a team that needs it.....the dark horses could also be Alt or Sanheim....I watched Sanheim's playoff game Sunday and he was the best player on the ice. He looks like he too has out grown Jr. hockey.

The only reason they took Vinny is he agreed to retire at the end of the season and we ate half his salary.

The bigger part is him retiring. Because if he doesn't then there is no way they can keep Lucic after the kopitar deal.

What I love is that he is eligible to go to the A next year. The Phantoms will be a really fun team to watch soon. Provy up with the big squad, and Sanheim, Morin perfecting the craft.

Even if Konecny only has one arm, I'll take him on the 3rd line!

your last comment is so true. At the start of the Year, it was those two guys that really were the catalyst's for this team to get better..... they had to grow from within...and they did. It's been a pleasure to watch this team for the last month.
