I'm a little surprised by all the attention a third round pick with a high end ceiling of third liner in the NHL is getting. This guy was out of the top ten in college scoring while being older than most of the guys he plays against. Players like this are easy to find on every AHL team.

It can also be draft picks. In 1999, the Devils had the choice of any 1st round pick in one of the next 5 years. So yea, it could be a player like Marner if you get your 1st round taken away.
