I won't begrudge him if he does, I was happy for Orpik when he got a nice payday. But I really doubt a team is going to offer him much more than 2.4 mil on a 1 year deal, even with this improved play down the stretch.

From the games I've watched, he's been very good in Pittsburgh from the tire fire he was in Edmonton.

Any reason to believe he played a large part in those trades? I'd assume, unless told otherwise, you would attribute assistant GM's with doing some research, scouting, etc.

Good question. I'm not sure how much influence on decisions he would have had, but I think gms generally consult the team. Even if he didn't, I think he learned from how Lombardi handled things.

Also, as the assistant Gm, he was Gm of the Monarchs and surely was consulted about player development at that level etc..
