Injuries occur every year. It's why depth is what separates players and pretenders.

Flyers lost Couturier, Giroux, and Voracek at different junctures this season.

Really need woudl be nice to have more goals right now from Couturier, Simmonds and Voracek...

The first two obviously contribute in other ways but it's impressive they have done this well with 1 goal in 22 games and 1 goal in 7 games from each player.

Voracek hopefully gets his timing back..I thought his skating looked better last game which maybe is an indication of things coming around.

And the Pens lose Crosby, Malkin, and Letang almost every year X_X

Hell, they even lost Flower for a bit... that was a new one.

But if they can somehow lose Kessel for a stretch, dude who is never injured, then the Penguins are just cursed.

Can't wait for the Blackhawks to get big injuries during a cup run, or the week before the postseason
- Guile

They have gotten very lucky during their run with key injuries...their core is very deep as well which helps

This would be a great plan for hexy to address the lw. Isn't the issue that every team can make him an offer to a certain max, and he just decides where he'd go? Maybe hexy could sell him on the fact that there arent a lot of lw ahead of him on the depth chart. I wouldn't be surprised if we aggressively pursued him. Are these guys at North Dakota? I thought I read one of them was, and if so I'm sure our hc could have some pull.

Caggiula is UND. Jankowski is Providence.

The Flyers could sign Caggiula as soon as his season is done. For Jankowski they would have to wait until Aug 15 since he is a Flames pick.

Yes every team could try to attrack him.

No Claude Giroux on the ice for optional #Flyers morning skate. He is sitting on the bench watching, though, in shorts and a hoodie.

There is definitely something other than luck factoring into how many games the Pens lose to injury...maybe they should hire chip kelly

Caggiula has some of the best mits in NCAA. His stick handling is really insane.

Too close to Caligula, and that dude was apparently a crazy perv. So pass.

They've fired big chunks of the medical staff twice in the Crosby era if memory serves correctly. The first during and after they really misdiagnosed Crosby's concussion syndrome (was soft tissue damage, and easier to treat). Then I think it was within the last two years they cleaned house almost.

I don't get how UPMC is this nationally awesome medical facility with blah blah blah awesome technologies and doctors, and the Pens keep getting hammered with injuries.

OTOH, Caligula did make his horse a senator, and when you look at the current US Senate, that might not be a bad idea.

Could just be a maintenance day, but he decided he was gonna show up and watch at least anyway.

Horses almost certainly have more common sense, and they'd probably get more done with fewer days off...

Ok, I'm on the Caggiula and Caligula boat.

Does UPMC just suck if you aren't stuck with western PA media commenting on it?

just my opinion but I think a Nugent-Hopkins for Sanheim and Laughton helps both teams and is fair.
- Ross77

I'd want more from the oilers. Top d prospects like sanheim and provy are worth more than underachieving forwards ruined by a crap organization.

What do you think Yakupov would cost? Not for you guys, for any team (obviously the Pens though lol).

He is now public on requesting a trade out, and that never helps a team get max value.

i dont think him requesting something hurts value at all...seems like his name has been involved in talks for a while. I think they just need to find another team in a simlar situation as them. (STL if they fail, NYI, etc.)
