I think Provorov will make the jump, but I feel that Konecny will have to earn it more than Provorov. The Flyers have some big holes everywhere on the roster minus in net (WTF!?!?) but Provorov has shown that he has nothing more to prove at the WHL level, where as Konecny could go back and challenge for a scoring title. - jmatchett383
I think they both will have to earn it despite their very impressive seasons. They don't seem like the players that will expect the posotion to be handed to them, so it will be exicting to see them in camp. Travis was pretty darn impressive this past training camp. But if they both do make the jump, I feel we have a complicated scenario with the other AHLers who I want to give a look such as Leier, Straka, and Alt. Obviously Travis and Ivan are viewed to be better projected players than who I listed, but we already have two healthy scratch young guys on our roster as it is. |

Well, we likely will not see Gagner back, same goes for Medvedev, so there are 2 spots open. They may buy RJ out (I'm not for it) and guys like Read/Streit/Schultz may be traded. So going forward, that gives us (lines not exact, just general roster):
Schenn-Giroux-Simmonds
Straka-Couturier-Voracek
Raffl-Konency-Laughton
Leier-Bellemare-Cousins
VdV-Weal
Ghost-AMac
Streit/Schultz-MDZ
Gudas-Provorov
Alt-Manning
Personally, I'm not sold on Straka, I don't like VdV, and would ship off both of Streit/Schultz if I could. So anyway, like I said, just a general roster layout. |

Totally agree.
I can see Read/Streit/Schultz possibly moved in the offseason. Leier can fill a bottom 6 roll like Read's. I think Bardreau can fill a Vandevelde role. I am also not sold on Straka.
As for roster I think Konecny will probably be a wing. I wonder if you could slide him onto a line with Couturier.
Voracek - Giroux - Simmonds
Konecny - Couturier - Schenn
I would love to get a playmaker type to go with Couturier line. |

Yeah, I was thinking about him as a top-6 wing. Also depends what they want to do with White. |

Flyers curb stomp the jets. They are a dysfunctional mess

I think if Straka is up with the Flyers he doesnt have a regular place in the lineup (i.e. the weal and/or gagner treatment) |

True, but from what I've seen of Provorov, he seems to just be operating on a higher level than the rest of the WHL. I honestly think that he could jump into the lineup tonight and go right into our top 4. The kid seems to think the game like an NHL vet and that is something that you just can't teach.

I don't see Straka ever being an NHL regular. I think next years lines, at least out of camp, will be something like:
Schenn-G-Simmonds
Raffl-Coots-Jake
Read-a FA or Cousins-Konecny
Laughton-Bellemare or Cousins-Bellemare or VDV
I think a guy like Leier could come up at some point during the season.
On D, I think we've just about seen the last of Medvedev and I think Streit may be moved in the offseason. So, I see something like this following to start 16-17:
MDZ-Gudas
AMac-Ghost
Provorov-Schultz
Manning or perhaps Alt as the 7th
I think Morin comes up during the season and either Schultz or AMac becomes the 7th man or is traded. |

I hope we can trade Read this offseason. From my understanding, Leier can replace what he brings. I don't like Vdv either so I wouldn't mind him not being in the picture. I have mixed feelings about bringing White back. I like him and what he contributes, just not sure if it's needed or if a young guy can bring a similar game. Hope some of these trades do happen tho to create space for young guys and to also cut some salary back

So.... should you guys lose to the Jets, would that be a "throw up the white flag and call it a season" moment for you guys after the Arizona loss? - Guile
They could lose tonight and still be in a playoff spot. Why would we raise the white flag? |

I was never high on Straka, I just thought, considering he'll need to be protected next year, he deserved a look.

because we will never go far in the playoffs if we are just going to lose to teams that wont make the playoffs |

Extreme bitterness over dropping games to two of the worst teams. Was moreso gauging your guy's mindset since a chunk of the Pens wanted to straight up tank when Malkin went down recently.
I'd have considered a loss to Phoenix and the Jets a really hard pill to swallow while pushing to make the playoffs. |

This could be a roster, but Leier and Straka haven't shown they can play in the NHL yet. And who knows if Konecny makes the team. If they all make it and stick, then that would be great, since it would be a lot better for the Flyers' cap. Will be interesting to see how they shape the roster next season. I'm excited for it.

It sucks they lost, but it doesn't change my desire to see a playoff run. No matter how long or short it may be. |
