I would bet that Murray is not going to trade Risto for anything, it's not good business to keep chasing your tail trying to find that true #1 Defenseman, which for my money that is what Risto is going to be. The object of Murray's search will be to find the complimentary piece to Risto.

Right but you figure it's safe to assume some money will be dedicated to keeping a balanced top 6 and upgrading the D. This model shows you can make the cap with Stamkos work if you gut the forwards and sit on your hands for a few years.

If you take the overpayment to Risto (I think he makes 5 mil) and Girgensons (3.5 to 2.5) that's an extra 2 mil.

Either way, as you and me have said. 2017-18 might be the best chance at a cup, as long as Stamkos is here, and we keep Eichel long term, anything else can be dealt with

I think the oilers were prepared to move him until they realized just how low the value was. He's going to have to be part of a larger package for the value to be worthwhile

The same idiots in here that think he is worth 4-5 million a year and is our future captain. When abdelkader signed at 4.5 for 7 years people were flipping out saying "how much is zemgus worth now!". Most u knowledgable fans over rate our players tremendously.
