The first goal was embarrassingly bad. I can't believe we are surrendering a shutout to a goalie who is playing his 2nd game in the NHL. This is just bad. It's over Gracie say goodnight.

Last Geno injury that hit the wall around the 4/5 game mark. I hope this isn't the wall they've hit this time around.

They would have to play 8 games to burn a year and we only have to play them 5 or 6. Not that it would make any difference.

ELCs count in the AHL too.

I think Letang and Kessel have had great games. Crosby and Hagelin had average games. Everyone else...

So, Pittsburgh hosts a bad NJ team without two Penguin killers in Cammelarie and Elias ... get to face a third string goalie making his second ever NHL start and the game is at home and we get shutout 3-0? Power play sucked ass ... this was an embarrassing loss. I'm sure a fool on this board blames Fleury. Yes, a softie was given up, but we didn't hit the scoreboard once. LOL, but that this was on Fleury.

Bennett should not suit up ever again for the Pens. Worthless.

Yes it's a team sport & if you don't score goals you can't win. But scoring goals does a couple of things - gives the team scoring more confidence & the team scored against less, & that's just a couple of things. Sounds like you have never played a team sport where scoring is involved?

I'm pointing out that there is a goalie that continues to be elite & poop, I personally cannot have confidence in a player like that. Then we have a goalie that has the potential to be a game changer & better than the 1 we currently employ as #1. If a goalie continues to give up a 'softie' as you say, there should be no question when the time comes to trade him - no matter what he does when he's not giving up soft goals. Had he saved those first 2 today, we may have won the game. Pretty simple.

He was beaten by two good shots. We couldn't get one by a freaking third string rookie who has been more a suspect than a prospect for the last three years. Take away the softie, its still 2-0. It's still a loss. Only fools blame the goalie, when we couldn't score on a suspect third string goalie. Pretty simple to me.

Now as you know I'm no expert.

First goal the puck slid 'under' his pad that he didn't have on the ice = goalie error & soft goal. 2nd he took an air swing. Haven't seen the 3rd as yet.

Your argument is actually enforcing the fact that a high end goalie (MAF), allowed soft goals & a newbie on his 2nd game in the NHL didn't! So in this case the Devils had solid tending & the Pens didn't.

Our high octane attack that put 6 on the best team in the league couldn't get 1 against a rookie??? I think he should stand up & take a bow!

I think the first and 3rd goals were bad ones by Flower. But even the one "good" goal they had was enough when we cant score.

What surprised me was how quickly the Devils were getting to the puck and getting it right out of their zone. Be it on dump ins, loose pucks or rebounds. They were constantly beating us to the puck.

Almost as much as going 5-5 in our last 10 and trying to give up the #2 spot in the Metro? Nah, not that much.

Second and third goals weren't his problem. The fact we were still down 1-0 with 19:30 left in the first and couldn't generate many good scoring chances against that lineup and goalie is embarrassing. We didn't have many good opportunities. Our best were complete misses on target. Can't solely blame this on MAF. Not scoring on that goalie and against that lineup is embarrassing.

At the end of the day it's a team game. You can't win if you don't score.

If MAF doesn't let in soff goals, it's a different game. In contrast, the Devils goalie kept everything out - Flower didn't! I'll go as far to say swap the goalies & we get a soff goal or 2 we go onto to dominate & win.

End of the day, the goalie is the key - he has a bad day, no matter how bad the offence is goals are scored. He has a good day, doesn't matter how good the offence is no goals are scored.

Soff goals against puts pressure on the team - even though it is a 'team' game. Am I blaming Flower for this loss? I'm putting my opinion in that when soff goals are scored against, pressure is put onto the team. The opposing goalie didn't let any soff goals in & gave his team confidence.

Murray would make no diffrence whatsoever so be quiet. If they can't score we can't win. Also soff goals don't cause that much problems for the players

You're very naive to say that! No one will know what difference Murray in goal would make either positive or negative. To say any goal against won't cause any difference is just silly. Teams get confidence when they score, so playing a 0-0 game in contrast to a 1-0 game changes the mindset of both teams. Make it a 2-0 game & the winning team will play with even more confidence - the losing team...............

Now I'm not saying trade Flower now, I'm pointing out what I've been saying that he allows soff goals. Soff goals that should be stopped at critical times.

"Every goalie let's soff goals in here & there",

yes they do but Flower in the very good goalie range, appears to have the edge on the others for letting them in. I'm thinking its more & more why this team is so inconsistent (fragile), or at least 1 of the reasons. He can be great, but he can also be not so great!

Wow! That Bruins no goal was a hot steaming pile of a decision!!

Puck for me was clearly over the line, you could see the puck in the netting & the distance from the line to the far edge of the puck was well over a puck width!

Did someone say that they need the Panthers to do something for their survival??
