No one mentioned their playoff position . The surgery would have to be done no matter what position they were in . It was just a matter of when . No one knows how long the the hip has been an issue . The article said it had been bothering him for years. Murray had Buffalo doctors go over Kane before the Trade was made. As it was public knowledge. Tyler's hip condition was not. Murray had to know about it if it was bothering him for years . All that I stated was it might have been a factor in Murray's decision process . The only one that knows that for sure is Tim Murray.

Ok maybe you are right. My point is that its not uncommon at all.

Gorges was shut down last February to have surgery. Happens to a ton of players.

ISS hockey has Juolevi 12th... Which is odd to me. He seems to be a late riser. Every list is very diverse in 4-15

Off topic from Myers, but it will be interesting to see the goalie padding scaled down next season. They all look like a bunch of fat asses out there, even skinny Miller. Lehner will still be a cow.

Funny to watch footage from the 80's. The goalies all look tiny compared to now . No wonder scoring is down

Speaks to the uncertainty surrounding the players beyond the top 4.

I don't think it was. I think it was as simple as Murray saying "I want Evander Kane, and Ristolainen is my #1 defenseman"

Do you think that expansion will increase scoring?

Everyone says that the league will be more "watered down", but maybe the gap between the elite players and the bad players will open things up and goals will go up.

His toughness is a ? It's kind of a forced toughness - think Myers. He may be the too offensive dman of the group though. The Russian is plain nasty

Hard to say . I still think the goalie equipment must come down in size without endangering goalie safety

I want a defensive defenceman and quick passer/skater. Any defenceman represent that?

Look at the Leafs, putting it on the Ducks...

The tank is weakening.

They don't make tanks like they used to. Those '14-15 models were classics.

Edmonton has never changed their tank. It's old and reliable.

Jaime Benn AND Hemsky each had hip surgery after last year

Marchand had elbow surgery.

No wonder they have had such sub par years.....

Bo Jackson had hip surgery once and we all know he came back flying... er, wait, that's not right.

Do you know if NHL players have to pass a physical after they are traded? I honestly do not know, so I was just wondering. Because it could be something that a GM knows about in deciding on trading a player.

I know in the NFL if a player fails his physical after a trade, the trade is reversed.

Edit: I think I remember Hard Hat ragging on Murray for taking the Winnipeg's GM word about Kane's shoulder being OK.

- rmiethaner

They don't have to, it's a disclosure thing. Kane didn't/couldn't pass his physical and he was still traded.

Edit: Chevy couldn't have known if Kane's shoulder would've been ok, he hadn't had surgery yet before the trade and everyone knew he was going to have the surgery. Also shame on you for thinking anything hard hat says holds any weight anywhere. Not that anything I say does, just that his really doesn't.

Blue Jackets outwork and own the Hurricanes yet lose.
Maple Leafs up three goals and team comes back to score four unanswered goals...

I think I have to give up on hoping teams can pass us. They're just too terrible and we're just too mediocre.

It's partly because they were tiny compared to now. They didn't have goalies that were 6'5"+ how many players total were even that big? I remember when Eric Lindros was a monster. He was what 6'2" 6'3" 220 lbs? Pronged is really the only other guy I can think of and even he was more gangly than anything.

Toronto is in complete melt-down mode. 4 straight goals and they're losing.

So annoying, but it's not as bad as seeing the games go our way, only to have Gionta and colaiacovo lead us to a meaningless victory to negate it all.
