If its only 9 games does it burn a year, I thought you have to play 10 for it to count as a year of the ELC.
- dean98setter

I don't know if anyone clarified this yet (I'm not going to scroll through all the pages), but the first year of Fasching's ELC was burned the second he signed it. I'm sure the Sabres signed him now because his agent told the team Fasching would play his senior year if they did not, become a UFA, and sign somewhere else next year. If he's as good as we're hearing lately, that's a bluff the Sabres should not call, especially since it concerns a position of need.

The ELC slide rule only applies to players who are 18 or 19 when they sign the ELC. Fasching turned 20 back in July 2015. Since Fasching turned 20 prior to 12/31/15, he is not subject to the slide; therefore, if he signed his ELC any time before July 1, 2016, this season would count as the first year of his ELC regardless of the number of games he plays.

In the event that an 18 year old or 19 year old Player signs an SPC with a Club but does not play at least ten (10) NHL Games in the first season under that SPC, the term of his SPC and his number of years in the Entry Level System shall be extended for a period of one (1) year, except that this automatic extension will not apply to a Player who is 19 according to Section 9.2 by virtue of turning 20 between September 16 and December 31 in the year in which he first signs an SPC. Unless a Player and Club expressly agree to the contrary, in the event a Player's SPC is extended an additional year in accordance with this subsection, all terms of the SPC, with the exception of Signing Bonuses, but including Paragraph 1 Salary, games played bonuses and Exhibit 5 bonuses, shall be extended; provided, however, that the Player's Paragraph 1 Salary shall be extended in all circumstances.
- CBA Rule 9.1(d)(i)

I'm pretty sure there isn't a separate rule for NCAA players signing an ELC because Rule 9.1 has a specific provision for guys who were playing in Europe. If there's a separate subpart for that situation but not for NCAA kids, then NCAA kids must be covered by the rest of the rule.

Detroit may be a team to look at as well. Lots of forwards coming through and not enough ice time for all of them.
- Sabresfan-365

Columbus too...they're stocked with quality youngins...

murray's been sayin all along that a Ladd-type vet may be available this off-season...

pretty excited

good point, Brodie, he is a bit uneven, but he's a known quantity with size, speed and a great scoring touch...plays north/south and is smack dab in the middle of his prime...

very tempting, but i do agree with what you said

- Michael Pachla

Ryan is one of those guys that is only as good as the guys you put on his line.. he doesn't make his linemates better IMO.

He topped 30 goals in EVERY season with Anaheim with Getzlaf/Perry. All 57-71 pt seasons.

He has 18-22 games in each of his 3 seasons with OTT. 48-54 pt seasons.

outplaying risto by a lot lately
- homiedclown

It's not even close. And Risto is taking a lot of bad penalties lately as well, frustration is kicking in with him and it is very noticeable.

so with two of these four--Eichel, kane, oreilly, skunk--do you think he could reach those numbers?

I would literally take ANY player from Detroit. I love all of their forwards.

Nyquist is my favorite by far.

Tatar and Larkin are legit as well.

Mantha is going to be another 25-35 goal guy.

I think Jurco is better than what he is showing for them too. Not as big of a fan of Sheahan and Pulkkinen though.

People might hate this idea, but Jeff Carter could be available. He's a 2 way goal scorer that can play wing or center. Only a 5.2 mil cap hit.

Signed until forever though. But you could get 3 good years out of him

Some where in the middle I bet. Eichel will get him more goals than ROR though IMO.

Kane - Eichel - Ryan would be fun to watch though... WOW

Those bottom 3 are the ones probably up for grabs. They've had down years, might be able to get them cheap then put them with eichel.

I think they are stuck with Brown unless they retain 2 mil or so.

Someone would take Quick I bet. He's been pretty average last few years
