I base my feelings on realistic expectations for growth

right now girgens looks like a 5th round pick on the ice, not a 1st rd pick

we would be no worse had we kept mitchell or flynn for his current roll then this lion eater

So again players can't have a down year in the midst of a huge transition... but you want stamkos who's been down and i don't remember there being any huge changes in Tampa for the last few years...

he goes from line 1, to line 3 and regresses

it should be the other way around

Why? I would argue you're third and 4th lines play differently than your top 2

Girgensons has business in the top 6 and if he is next year, this team deserves to lose. He needs to be on the 3rd line or traded, we can keep Larsson for less then what it will cost to resign boy wonder.

It just amazes me with people on this blog, we have a chance to get a premier player in this league and because they claim his scoring is down, they don't want him or are finding every way not to sign him. But let's keep defending Grirgensons

We have a saying at work that peeps are promoted to their level of incompetence. My opinion, Girgs will be a competent 3rd line center that can pull 'spot' duty in top six.

Do we try to get Bobby Ryan from the Sens if they make big changes?

He's tied for 5th in the league in goals. That's still elite production

Girgs is the perfect 3rd line center and nothing more IMO.

It appears people have missed my previous posts where i've stated I WANT Stamkos... but my point is that if you want to rid yourself of one player that is playing a different line in a different role without the players he played and had success with last year but take on a player that hasn't had those changes and yet is still in what i would call the 3rd year of not hitting his potential peak doesn't that make you wonder?

Yes just like McGinn will get 4.5 or more a year, it's the way it's going no in the NHL. 20 goals gets you 4-5 a year.

No one is scoring 60 in this league right now. He's still at worst a top 10 NHL goal scorer at 26.

is he worth 12? Maybe not. I would still pay him that. Because he is one of the leagues best

So Stamkos gets us 40 and we're paying him 12?

But meanwhile we're concerned about a player we're paying under 1million lol why is that guy under such scrutiny to produce but the potential 12 million highest paid player in the league get a pass?

And when the cap goes up it won't hurt as much. Not to mention if you find a way out of Moulson's contract that's almost half of the space right there. If we get rid of Moulson and Ennis that's almost all of it. You're getting Stamkos for 3M more than you're spending on 28 points.

They just don't like where Girgs is slotted. If he was 3rd C or 3rd Wing some might female dog but not as much. I tend to agree and I enjoy Girgs. He's playing out of position and out of his element. It's like when we would put Hecht-Gaustad-Ellis out with 40 seconds left and down a goal. It's not the fact that they're making what they're making, it's the fact that they are being put in a position they don't belong.

Put Stamkos on that line and at 12M he's a better fit than Girgs.

aside from maybe chara, stamkos is the biggest free agent to hit the market since #99
