We want to make the playoffs and a cup but we don't want Stamkos

I want him. In the most hetero way imaginable.

I'd agree if he had ever in his career not been treated like one. Every coach has used him as a #1 or #2.

IMO he's a better version of Phanuef. Good scorer, good in his end. But in the end will never drive a top pair.

Myers was never going to get love here because he is 6'8" and he plays the physical game of a guy 5'11". Not that it's fair, but that's just reality. I'm guilty of it myself. Myers is better than Bogo, but I still enjoy Bogo's physical game and willingness to jump in for a teammate at a moments notice more.

I think the bigger issue was him winning the Calder and never turning into a star.

Whenever he has been on anything that resembles a good team (his first 2 seasons, last part of 2015 with WPG) He has scored at a 40-45 point pace, and played a lot of minutes. I'd take that as my #2 any day.

If Bogo continues to play like he has in recent weeks, It isn't much of a drop off

if myers put up soupy numbers, and ran the first team pp well, he would have fit in with most of the fans

the norris trophy conversation never should have happened after he won the calder

if he was 6 foot he would be spacek 2.0 IMO

The lockout season aside (He was horrible) he put up pretty good numbers relative to the teams the Sabres iced.

He was on (and part of) 3 of the most uninspiring teams in the history of the franchise

The reasons that were brought up about him not wanting to go to Toronto had to do with having to play through a rebuild the next few seasons
Had nothing to do with $$$
I think the endorsements would put Toronto or Montreal over the top if he felt those teams were neck & neck with whatever other teams he was considering
Maybe if Toronto gets Mattews that could help push him in that direction as well
Still doesn't seem like enough of what he cares about is winning
Montreal seems much more likely
Although he'd have to wonder what kind of talent they really have there with the way he's fallen apart this year

I'm not saying it'll be us
I just don't think it'll be Toronto

If he's concerned about winning, and winning right away, Buffalo isn't anywhere near the top of the list. This team has made some very nice strides, but is still a long way from proving it is a winner.

I also think the media thing is completely overstated. You don't hear guys like Eli Manning or Carmelo Anthony wanting out of New York, a market where the media is far more ruthless, and the expectations are even larger.

We talk about the team being historically bad last year.

The Aud Club at the arena has a sign from the Aud that shows the final results of the 1995-1996 season. Ottawa had 41 points that year.

Any MMA fans? They are finally going to get the vote today on legalizing it. Sounds like it will likely pass. Looking forward to an event at the arena. I can cut my trips to Vegas in half.

Good Lord... but still we have been icing some of the worst teams in league history the last few years.

On a "happier" note? Happy Clint Malarchuk Day!

That changes when the Sabres move the 6th-8th pick for another established NHL player.

He is intrigued by Buffalo, that's almost a fact at this point

I'm not saying he isn't. I'm saying that if winning now is the top factor, Buffalo isn't his first choice. I never thought of Montreal like Max said, but that does seem like the perfect fit for him. Stamkos with a healthy Carey Price makes the Canadiens an instant Cup contender.

It's having a chance to win throughout the duration of the deal IMO.

Montreal has a couple nice players, but we are set up better long term
Toronto is far away, and to be honest, I think they would have less interest in Stamkos than the other way around
Nashville is set up more short term with Weber and Josi being on the wrong side of there prime.

Did anyone else listen to GMTM last friday?

He mentioned that there was defiantly a drop after mathews and the finns (which we knew). But he then had the guys name the next few on the list and when chychrun was brought up around pick 5 he paused and was like ehh there's other players too..
I've noticed some TSN players mentioning the same thing about him dropping.
