Scuds is in a perfect situation there. Bigger team. Lot's of subtle interference. They're able to protect him from a hard forecheck.
- madmike71

I'd like to see how they stack up against the faster teams since adding Scuds... how about us vs them in the finals

Everyone I present to you the reason everyone hates pittsburgh penguin fans. Hockey is violent, don't watch if you don't like it.
- Grinder47

There's no denying it's a contact sport but I don't see anything wrong with not wanting any player to be thrust head first into the boards head first from behind. I like the fighting and big hits but some of them are crossing the line and calling out the league for not enforcing rules is not a terrible thing.

So my despising non-talented players on the ice for effectively one reason (not to score goals or prevent goals) is a reason to be hated...interesting. I don't recall my post being anti physicality but then again I'm only fluent in English. Violent actions happen all the time but when you see specific "players" who blatantly attempt to injure others that's no part of hockey. A fight is a different argument I'll give you that but what I was referring to was not a fight.

It's obvious that you are pro-goon your posts don't hide that fact...

- iworkatinitech

Its funny because that actually has been part of hockey since the very beginning. Crosby has attempted to hurt other players, so has Malkin, so has Stamkos. Mario has as well. Why you ask? Cause they are hockey players and thats what happens in hockey. Weber's hit on Rust was pretty bad but nothing was wrong with his game up until that point. Rust actually went after him too. Should Rust have been thrown out?

Everyone I present to you the reason the sport of hockey is still a 2nd class citizen among professional sports. Too many Neanderthal knuckledraggers that would rather see someone laying in a corner bleeding from a big hit than seeing a good skilled hockey play.

That late in the game, with a 3 goal lead... Yes actually. Refs should have thrown both out to try and get control of the game. That is what they are supposed to do in that situation.

No update yet on Dumo that I have seen. If he's out for a little bit, who do you think will/should take his spot?

My guess is Lovejoy gets paired with Schultz and Cole goes up with Daley.

My preference would be to get Pouliot back in there but he just doesn't slot well with either Schultz or Daley.

I really would like to see Maatta get a game off as well. Hate to break up the continuity on the blue line, but I've not seen him ever look this slow, immobile. Maybe this 3 day game break will be enough for him.

That's exactly what I was referring to, I don't mind hitting and like it but my God hitting to hurt is unacceptable, and there are actually rules in existence to prevent these things from happening but they are not enforced...

I'm all for that.

I think it's about time we give Ruth some love for transforming this team. And basically doing it mid-season. Not an easy task.

The WB kids deserve some credit too.

Yes he was but he should be suspended as well. I'm not one of these guys that gets all up in arms check my post on ov hit I didn't see much wrong with it but rust is defenseless in that situation also consider the fact those 2 had a little dust up earlier and there's intent there.

Sorry had the caps and pens confused they only got us twice. I can't see them bouncing the caps this year unless Hank is super human. And what the hell is beagle playing with backstrom and ov for?
- dbell646

Caps have been stagnant of late (understandable with a 20 point conference lead) and I think Trotz was rewarding Beagle for working hard. Hopefully we will see Beagle back on the 3rd/4th line come playoff time.

I would guess Lovejoy as well, losing a guy whose role is more to the defensive side than the offensive side it wouldn't make much sense to replace him with someone who is more offense than defense. I would think it will be Lovejoy/Daley and keeping Cole/Shultz together so that they keep continuity in 2 of the 3 pairings

Hopefully I don't get flagged for this but I'm trying to understand...I want it know if you (Grinder) have any children I hope this never ever happens but for the sake of understanding your point I suppose the following:

So what you're saying is that if you were lucky enough to have a child with A. Matthew's/Crosby/McDavid/Eichel level skill you would be happy that they played in a league that promoted the Rinaldo's, Weber's, Prout's etc of the world as hockey players and when your son has his head scrambled by those moron's it's good, it's actually what you want and what "your sport" is all about? You'd rather see your son or whomever lying on the ice unconscious and possibly concussed because the hard hit he took was good for the game?

I always hated when the pens were comfortable with their playoff position always worried about coasting into the playoffs. Not that it mattered much as we got bounced early either way.

Bud even if my son was as skilled as Mcdavid he would be able to handle the rinaldos webers and prouts of the world. Hockey is dangerous have your kid play fast pitch softball. [/img]

The OV hit happens every night in every game in this league, but Weber should be suspended for his hit. Not sure why the Caps acquired Weber, he will hopefully ride the bench once Carlson returns. Maybe they think they need him in a potential series against a big, hard-hitting club.

Not bashing GMJR at all but is he really the person that deserves the lion's share of the credit for the transformation of the roster? Sure the Daley, Hagelin and Shultz acquisitions have been important and so have the Cullen/Fehr signings but in my opinion the biggest difference has been the emergence of Rust/Wilson/Sheary/Kuhnkackl/Sundqvist to give the Pens a legitimate bottom 6 and all of those players(except for maybe Sheary) were RS acquisitions. If my math is correct GMJR is only responsible for 9 of the players currently on the roster, there's no discounting what he's done with the moves he's made but should he get full credit for being the architect when he's responsible for less than half of the roster?

Yeah, I mean it's great that we don't have to worry about getting in the playoffs, but coasting in with a huge points lead doesn't really seem ideal either. I'll guess we'll see what happens in the playoffs. Would love to see the Pens get the 1st Wild Card and head over to the Atlantic for the 1st two rounds and let the Isles/Rangers kill each other over 7 games.

Weber isnt very good at actually playing defense. I see the appeal in a physical guy but he hurt his team much more then he helped yesterday. I forgot Carlson was out that's a big piece coming back. Should give you guys a shot in the arm

Well I mean Mcdavid can obviously handle the webers prouts and rinaldos so if I had a kid as skilled as him why wouldn't he be able to? Its like how Crosby is always "going to get it" one of these days. Nope, hes not because it would have happened.

Crosby missed a year from a head shot and mcdavid missed half this season with injury.
