All bullpoop, bud. You're reaching.

For where the Leafs are, a proper rebuild, the deal is excellent now that the 2016 1st is in play.

Just wait until Kessel gets injured, you won't miss him one... (frank)ing... bit!!

- As_I_See_It

Kessel is actually one of the least injured players in the league (knocks on wood). You, like a lot of Leafs fans, have a Kessel complex/obsession. You traded your best player for scraps. You cling onto this first round pick which will probably be in the bottom 1/3 yet have no clue who this pick will be and if they'll ever pan out. More late 1st round pics do not work out than do.

Old age. He won't ever be consistent any more. He'll have some games where he looks like he drank a cup from the fountain of youth during the pregame, and then he'll have some games where he looks like a 3rd liner. I understand not wanting to trade him due to sentiment and locker room reasons, but we really need an additional top 6 LW his offseason because Kunitz is just no longer that guy on a consistent basis. Retirement after this season might be best for both parties.
- Victoro311

I would like his cap space... but I don't know if we actually have a young player who is ready to step up into the top 6. People keep saying Sprong, but thats a bit unfair to trial by fire him next season if hes not ready. And not sure any of our WBS guys are truly ready for the Crosby line.

"Don't know what you're so happy about?"

The 1st is all but a guarantee and received two solid prospects in Kapanen (especially him) and Harrington... While you only got Kessel.

How's he worked out for ya? He only has 21 goals and will barely clear 50 points. Kessel doesn't hit, doesn't block shots, has zero grit, takes a poop load of low percentage shots, disappears for numerous games at a time, doesn't backcheck, frequently caught out of position, is a temperamental suck, not a leader and HAS ZERO HEART! Basically, he's the last guy you want in the playoffs

PIT can't win the division and whoever they end up with (likely BOS, TB, NYR or NYI) won't exactly be a cakewalk.

So yeah, I have plenty to be happy about. Enjoy Kessel... He will cost the Pens, trust me.

- As_I_See_It

Every single player on the Pens numbers are down due to the ex coaches poop system. Every. Single. Player.

How's this working out for us? Lets give it more than a season to see. You're obsessed with Kessel, losing him for F all and wondering how it will all work out. Just admit it.

Love the selective argument.

3/4 of those points were when he was in Boston... SEVEN YEARS AGO

You tell me, is Kessel everything that you hoped he would be?... I think we both know that answer. Heading into the season there was talk of 50 goals, he won't even hit half that and that's playing with PIT's stars!

Fun fact: The number of hits thrown by Kessel this season can be counted on two hands.

- As_I_See_It

Yes, actually he is. I was very aware of who Kessel was BEFORE the trade, and how he played. I watched him in the Olympics, and I watched him in Toronto, and as of right now, he is slightly under-performing, but knowing who he was coming in, and all of the garbage Toronto and their media spewed about Kessel, I am happy with the way he plays the game. In any game I've watched, he backchecks, plays decent defense, makes slick passes. I am one of the few that is not upset with how Kessel has played, and anyone on this board can acknowledge that.

We can't count on Sprong until we can. He's extremely promising, but he's a 19 year old natural RW who hasn't had a large taste of professional hockey. People who keep penciling him in at top 6 LW need to slow their roll.

If Kunitz stays on the roster which he probably will, we should try to find a cheap top 9 winger who'd be a good fit on Crosby's wing as insurance for Kunitz breaking down. Kind of like Hagelin but at a much friendlier cap hit.

I was second row in 203, next to some smoking hot girl who was having a text fight with her boyfriend in Chicago. Sadly, not a good enough fight to overcome his 300K+ salary and for me to get anything more than being her "favorite seatbuddy" ~_~

Lol. Sorry to hear that was not to be. I'm married, so all those shenanigans are behind me, but there was this girl on a flight from LA back in my single days...good times.

If we want to get back anything from Kunitz (a lot of people's here's agenda regarding UFA), he has to be dealt at the Draft after this season. But I don't know what is out there to replace him since I don't feel like looking until our season is over.

I hate the pens with every fiber I have. However the 15-16 pens aren't nearly as unbearable. Good on the pens for unloading douches like Neal, Cooke, etc. This team is rolling right now and i like seeing home grown players have success on any team. I think the rivalry is going to take a hit as both our teams seem overly concerned with playing sound hockey

She didn't know what the Penalty Kill was called, and her friend thought I made up that term. I think I'm okay with it.

I think we can thank the Pirates fans for the chant, and Quedo's dropped ball and instant HR he gave up a few years back. Two syllable chants are easy
- Guile

That chant goes way back beyond the Cueto days....find old Pens broadcasts and you can hear Pens fans giving it to Don Beaupre and Ron Hextall....

"BOWWWW-PRAYYYY...BOWWWW-PRAYYYY"

...kind of fitting that it works just as well for the current Caps goalie.

Pirates had over 2 decades of suckage and losing seasons... I don't think there are enough older timers to use that reference for a chant.

Sprong also is a right wing. Its hard to ask a guy just starting in the league to switch positions like that. Some guys it doesn't matter at all, and others it really screws up.

I don';t see Kunitz considering retirement after this season. While it seems like he is far from the player of two years ago, when he represented Canada, the dude is probably going to surpass last year's numbers and this includes a dreadful start to this campaign. Ideally, he is probably a third line guy here next year. However, we all the sudden have some nice options that were big time question marks a month ago. Not sure what type of return you can get for Kunitz, but it should be investigated.

Well I can only hope that down in the minor minor leagues, they have been using him on the LW, per our coaching staff request >_>

Agreed. I feel the same way about the Flyers. I will always hate them, but guys like Rinaldo always made it worse. I was glad the game Saturday didn't deteriorate into a bunch of after the whistle BS like usual.

It will never take a hit. I think the fans of both teams will never allow that. I agree these teams seem more interested in winning now then trying to be tough guys. I thought Pens showed great restraint last night. Last game we had 2-0 lead Caps turned the physicality up got in our face and got us off our game. That didn't happen this time and I was impressed.
