I'm surprised that this quote wasn't about how horribly Ovechkin "assaulted" Dumoulin.

Great weekend for you guys, and well-deserved.

So how about Shultz? And please say Bonino is off the (frank)ing top PP unit...

Wouldn't go as far as an assault... but it was a classic late hit cheap shot by Ovi

I agree, but that has never stopped RW before.

The only assault coming to mind is the one on Orpik... and yeah, that one I'll agree with.

There was also the Dubinsky cross check clinic on Crosby (which I thought warranted about 10 games) and shortly thereafter a cross check to some player's head by Dalton Prout, I think (can't remember exactly, but it should have been a 5-10 gamer as well). Both were outright cheap shots, but the word "assault" wasn't what came to my mind in both cases.

Ah, yeah... well, RW is still a writer. Even hate comments and such still counts as views.

Underrated part of the night was when one of the NBC Sports guys were talking about how great Washington's depth was. Might have been after the Chimera fluke goal cus they started it with praise to him and went on to suck Tom Wilson and a. Few other's Richards too. Basically ensenuating that these guys could play second line on a lot of teams. Then they went on to say that that was the difference between Washington and Pittsburgh, the depth.

Then BAM!!! Kuhnhackl, Rust, and Cullen all score! The Pittsburgh has no depth narrative is finally coming to an end

Well, that is true. I know it's the Garth/Eklund "If I make this super over-the-top ridiculous, people will click to check it out," method of writing. I just think RW is a much better writer (graphs aside) and expect a bit more objectivity/quality.

All bullpoop, bud. You're reaching.

For where the Leafs are, a proper rebuild, the deal is excellent now that the 2016 1st is in play.

Just wait until Kessel gets injured, you won't miss him one... (frank)ing... bit!!

- As_I_See_It

Good Lord. Can't you just be happy you are going to get a first round draft pick out of the deal? This is why no one likes Leafs fans.

I didn't get that at all. I don't understand the need to play Bonino on the top PP when we have this whole slew of offensive defensemen. Schultz or Daley, please!

I was down in 112. We were really giving it to him and OV all night. One of the best atmospheres that I've experienced in that building.

Suprised no one here is on Oshie for continuing to punch Crosby after he was on top of him and Sid was on the ice. I thought that was pretty douchey.

That was one of the loudest crowds I've heard through the TV during a regular season game in a long time. It was great to hear.

I was second row in 203, next to some smoking hot girl who was having a text fight with her boyfriend in Chicago. Sadly, not a good enough fight to overcome his 300K+ salary and for me to get anything more than being her "favorite seatbuddy" ~_~

I think we can thank the Pirates fans for the chant, and Quedo's dropped ball and instant HR he gave up a few years back. Two syllable chants are easy

Love the selective argument.

3/4 of those points were when he was in Boston... SEVEN YEARS AGO

You tell me, is Kessel everything that you hoped he would be?... I think we both know that answer. Heading into the season there was talk of 50 goals, he won't even hit half that and that's playing with PIT's stars!

Fun fact: The number of hits thrown by Kessel this season can be counted on two hands.

- As_I_See_It

Here's another fun fact. You don't need any hands to count the number of Cups the Leafs have won since man landed on the moon.

Your point is null and invalid, as man hadn't yet developed hands when the Leafs last won the Cup.

ARE YOU KIDDING?!?!?

Kessel is a one dimensional player and we couldn't wait to trade him. As you can see T.O. is in rebuild mode and Kessel IS NOT a player to build around.

Sorry dude, but NOBODY was bitter seeing Kessel go and that clearly illustrates that you have zero idea of what you're talking about.

Wah wah wah.. How are those Canadian Team playoff chances working out for you guys these days? Are you just made that Phil doesnt like Poutine and preferred a hot dog stand over fries with cheese and gravy?

Phil is not a player you build a team around. He is an excellent complimentary player. When used properly, he will be just fine. Maybe if 87 or 71 could be healthy long enough, Phil could score some goals. IF you'd come out of your ice hole and watch the last few games, you'd see Kessel back checking, forechecking, skating, basically he has bought in to HCMS system like everyone else. Good stuff here.

Yeah that still throws me off seeing it. I really wonder what Sullivan said when he was benched that made this turnaround into a semi two way player.

"I know every hotdog vendor in this city & I already have a flier printed up to hand out at every grocery store & Sheetz in the city. If you don't get you behind in gear & start playing 2 way hockey with some emotion, you won't eat another dog in this city, kid"

So another random new topic...

Kunitz, his puck handling the last handful of games has been VERY bad. Last night I saw him lose the puck while not even pressured 3 times, and his passing is off point a lot. Something wrong, old age, or just a couple bad showings in a row?

Old age. He won't ever be consistent any more. He'll have some games where he looks like he drank a cup from the fountain of youth during the pregame, and then he'll have some games where he looks like a 3rd liner. I understand not wanting to trade him due to sentiment and locker room reasons, but we really need an additional top 6 LW his offseason because Kunitz is just no longer that guy on a consistent basis. Retirement after this season might be best for both parties.
