enjoy sucking. you got our worst real defensemen prospect we had, you got a fin (skilled) with major confidence issues. and you got a first that leaf will all but surely ruin. enjoy the dumpster. kessel has been fine. not good not bad. he backchecks!

All bullpoop, bud. You're reaching.

For where the Leafs are, a proper rebuild, the deal is excellent now that the 2016 1st is in play.

Just wait until Kessel gets injured, you won't miss him one... (frank)ing... bit!!

"Don't know what you're so happy about?"

The 1st is all but a guarantee and received two solid prospects in Kapanen (especially him) and Harrington... While you only got Kessel.

How's he worked out for ya? He only has 21 goals and will barely clear 50 points. Kessel doesn't hit, doesn't block shots, has zero grit, takes a poop load of low percentage shots, disappears for numerous games at a time, doesn't backcheck, frequently caught out of position, is a temperamental suck, not a leader and HAS ZERO HEART! Basically, he's the last guy you want in the playoffs

PIT can't win the division and whoever they end up with (likely BOS, TB, NYR or NYI) won't exactly be a cakewalk.

So yeah, I have plenty to be happy about. Enjoy Kessel... He will cost the Pens, trust me.

1st year blues with a (frank)ed up start that really screwed everyone over.

Also, when you say we have Philbo, that isn't entirely correct as I see it now is it....................

So 21 points in 22 playoff games isn't good?

Love the selective argument.

3/4 of those points were when he was in Boston... SEVEN YEARS AGO

You tell me, is Kessel everything that you hoped he would be?... I think we both know that answer. Heading into the season there was talk of 50 goals, he won't even hit half that and that's playing with PIT's stars!

Fun fact: The number of hits thrown by Kessel this season can be counted on two hands.

@Barnaby: I keep going back and forth on Wilson and I think I finally know why. He's the best goal scorer out of the Wilks Barre Five, but when he's not hot in the goal scoring department, he's the worst defensively and on the boards. If you told me next season that we were going to pick up a few UFAs and there'd only be two roster spots for the WBS guys, I'd have Rust as my shoo in, but then I'd have to think long and hard when picking between Sheary and Wilson. Do I go for the goal scoring capability, or the tenacious grinding?
- Victoro311

Victoro I happen to value Sheary's type of game for sure. He's a Nice Little player to have. He's more skilled than most people here think. Wilson's shot can't be denied though. He Can backcheck alright too. He's just not the fastest guy out there.

I don't know why all the hate on Phil. He's been fine and will only get better. He was the best player In Toronto that's why I see the bitterness seeing him leave that circus.

This is exactly why there is so much hate. Toronto has been terrible for years and they want to have someone to point their finger at and say, he was the problem.

ARE YOU KIDDING?!?!?

Kessel is a one dimensional player and we couldn't wait to trade him. As you can see T.O. is in rebuild mode and Kessel IS NOT a player to build around.

Sorry dude, but NOBODY was bitter seeing Kessel go and that clearly illustrates that you have zero idea of what you're talking about.

Kessel wasn't the problem, he was one of many and one that couldn't be fixed or addressed. It was long past time for both sides to move on.

The truth is that Kessel could never live up to what was traded away for him which eventually turned out to be Seguin, Hamilton and Spooner. He was doomed to fail from day one.

Edit: Kessel will be 29 at the start of the 2016 season and if this season is any indication of the direction that Kessel is headed, it's clear that his best seasons are most likely behind him.

I was definitely down on Kessl a few weeks ago. However, he seems to really be stepping up his play as the games gain importance. Also, I've seen him in the playoffs, he's been very good. A much more intense player.

Who is 'that' player? Phanouf is gone, TVR? Is he the 1 or are you counting on Stamkos? Or maybe a player that hasn't played a NHL game yet?? Whoever it is I hope the kid can play & wears ear plugs!!

The first excuse that every Leafs fan throws our way is that Philbo was the first to go. In reality, he was probably an easy out as you guys weren't going anywhere this year or next so why pay for an elite player (or 2). Now you gave neither & I will bet Babcock saw Phanouf helping more due to him being the captain. Imagine Babcock steps in & the first thing he does is send the captain packing???

So it was only a matter of time before both high priced players were wearing another teams colours - & Babcock had a ready in waiting buyer for 1 of them.

I really don't get the continued hatred against a player that no longer plays for you guys. I doubt there's anyone here that hated Scuds that goes on the Hawks board & now the Kings board continually berating him - we have a chuckle here & there on here about him, but that's nowhere near the hatred the Leafs fans show for Philbo!

Great win - never going to get sick of saying those 2 great little words!!

Ovi's hit was yet again a grubby little bad tempered piece of poop play by a G.R.U.B.

Don't care if he says sorry, it's a hit that happens 1000 times or it was an accident, it was a deliberate act that intended to injure - plain & simple.

Ovi is a 1 of a kind talent that has enormous heart but the guys a dirty player & really if he keeps going he will be remembered more for his dirty play than his 50 goal seasons (although never ever will anyone call him out publicly).

Forget which one of you has been riding the rust train for years but kudos he's an excellent player. That line is my favorite. They swing momentum seemingly every time they hit the ice. Tk didn't waste time he jumped right on Webber after that hit. I'd like a couple guys who can throw and play but I'll settle for the gritty speedsters we have. Tk and rust are tenacious never quit and aren't afraid of anyone or any area of the ice. Sad to watch orpik be absolutely useless in open ice. His skating used to be very underrated now he is just old. He had no chance against Crosby on the Kunitz goal. All he did in that game was put horny in headlocks. What could ov and backstrom possibly have been pissed at rust about after he got boarded?

Everyone said Crosby was finished about 3 months ago. Phil has flaws but he isn't the black hole Toronto fans make him out to be.

Fantastic win. Love this team's commitment to the counter attack and getting it out of the zone.

The bottom six were the heroes last night. They fought and clawed as tenaciously as you could ask.

Six goals from six different players, that is good depth.

The limiting of shots can't be understated, Dumo was blocking OV slap shots like they were ping pong balls. They are not.

The team is fearless and has seemingly boundless energy.

After a slow start the Pens badly outplayed the bigger, slower Caps.

Good game. Ovi is one powerful s o b. No such thing as an "needless hit" its either clean or dirty and that was clean. Always finish your checks on the forecheck kids, there's always a chance you end the night for one of the other teams best d man.

I think fleury understands he had to hold down the fort for 5 minutes while the team gets wound up then he gets to relax. We don't let up many shots after that. Bottom 6 has been outstanding. Old man Cullen fits right in with them he's all over the ice

Toronto fans are like Philadelphia 76er fans. Collect nothing more than prospects and see what happens.

Your organization is right there with Edmonton to be honest in every way shape and form.

You guys have been in rebuild form since the Nixon Administration.

If you believe the hit was clean you like dirty play - it wasn't even a check.

Educate me. How do you check another player? Simple technical explanation is all that's needed.

Has that Isles fan been seen since he stated on back to backs certain teams should win? I wonder if he thought that the best team in the NHL on points at the moment should have won today (my time)???

What a G.O.O.S.E.

It feels like buying high, but this team does feel like it has a Cup run in it. Best team in the east as of this moment. Rutherford has had an amazing in season GM run. Some of the best work I've seen and every move has been a homerun. Last year Rutherford was a disaster in season. Now we've rebuilt the bottom half of our roster without giving up any assets.
