I think Lindholm is a great young defensemen, but he is young and he could regress, there's no guarantee on him just yet, but he does seem promising. I just don't want to overpay for him, it seems like we're getting that reputation that our G.M. will gladly overpay. I would do Girgensons, Ennis, next years first for him.

They're almost certainly going to want a D back, so it'd be the pick, Pysyk, and one of Ennis/Girgensons.

Is this not 100% true though? I mean to get the guy he wants there's likely no limit, as long as the deal doesn't include a core player he'll likely pay up.
- Sabresfan-365

I like his boldness in going after what he wants, I just feel the deals could be a little tighter on our end. With the Kane trade, that first round was too much of an overpayment. With the RoR trade, as awesome as oreilly is, if Zadorov turns into a top pairing than we may have really overpaid on that deal.

2017, Pysyk, Ennis/Girgs... Yeah, I'd make this move. Larsson replaces Girgs, 2016 pick replaces Ennis if they pick him, Linholm answers our top pairing problem.

Is this the Zadorov that played most of the year in the AHL that's going to be a top 2 all of a sudden?

What happens if neither d-man is there at 8 (unlikely but you never know). I don't think Lindholm gets enough love. His minutes aren't as grueling as risto but he's only 22 and is in the top 10/5 in a lot of defensive categories.

A Risto-Hampus pairing would be a real treat watch for the next decade or so

- Sabresfan-365

What makes you so sure we're picking at 8? Flames just won. We're 6th right now

As of right now we traded Zadorov, Gregirenko, Compher, and Jeremy Roy for RoR and a 3rd. Love RoR but we did pay to get him. I'm not saying that's good or bad but after the Kane trade, the RoR trade, the Mcnabb trade, I think other G.M.s know they can get extra out of Murray.

Zadorov is still young. He was picked in the middle of round 1. There are a couple players from that draft that still haven't made an impact

My buddy is a Ducks fan and thier fans think he can be there Duncan Keith. He is also a former 6th overall pick and plays in the West. Tough conference to get acclimated to. Two 35+ point seasons already before the age of 24. I would move Fowler before him if I am Anahiem.

I think Anaheim would rather move Fowler first too, but they're not getting the same return for Fowler.

I will always support the trade if I think it makes us a better team. I would rather have ROR than the combination of those players/picks we gave up. It's possible that Zadorov becomes a quality D, and I'm not concerned if he does. I'm concerned with ROR rather than the departed assets. I think that's what always held Darcy back, and prevented us from making that big move that would push us to the next level.

Of course, I think everyone supports this trade because of the way that it's turning out, O'reilly is a beast. But what if O'reilly chit the bed this year? How bad would this trade look than. Murray gave up a lot of assets for one player and it looks like he may have made the right call. But O'reilly was well established, we knew what we were paying for. A trade for Linholm would cost our first, Girgensons, Pysyk + that's a hell of a lot for one unestablished player no matter how good he's been playing, it's a really tough call to pull the trigger.

Haven't made an impact and probably won't make much of one. Sure we gave up a lot of prospects BUF if you get the best player in a trade that's always a good thing. The one I question right now is the McNabb trade. Faeshing will have to turn into a top 6 forward for that trade to make sense. If he turns into Marcus Foligno, then it's not a disaster but not so good either

ROR was a proven commodity, where Lindholm carries some uncertainty. I agree there is some risk there. This is where we have to hope our GM knows what he's doing. For all we know, he may not even be interested in Lindholm. If he is he will probably be aggressive to get him.

I don't necessarily disagree but my point is if Lindholm is the guy he wants (not saying he is just making a point) then its not really a stretch to think he'd give up a lot of pieces for him. Top pair or even future top pair d-men don't get traded very often so you have to make it worth their while.

If I was Murray, I think I would offer a combination of 3 of the 5 for Lindholm:
2017 1st, Pysyk, Girgensons, Ennis, Bailey

If it would cost us this years first, I'd rather take a chance at hopefully drafting Chychrun or Joulevi.

But if the plan is Stamkos you're gonna burn through 3 years of his prime, Eichels and Reainharts elcs just to see if Joulevi is gonna maybe be a top 2 defenseman.

Agreed. But trading for Lindholm would come with a top pair price tag and we don't really know if he's top pair. He's trending that way but he's not established there yet, so it would be a heck of a gamble. Maybe Murray has the stones to do it though.

I think he is but more importantly he might be the best chance we have of landing a top pairing guy. Of course the market can change between now and draft day. I think he's a perfect fit for risto.

Say Lindholm is available than, what would be your offer on him this offseason? Say we also pick 5th in the draft.

Well, if the plan truly is Stamkos than it changes the parameters on this discussion on how we move forward this offseason. Landing Stamkos I would probably trade the 2016 pick. We would not have the cap space in a few years anyways to keep all these young talented players when they want to get paid.
