or Ulmark , hopefully we're so much better we won't care who we loose! - gordong
Buffalo could do what it did with Columbus back in their expansion draft. They traded the Jackets players in agreement they wouldn't go after Biron or Hasek |

Maybe we don't let Ullmark be the full-time starter down there next year
Less likely he'd get scooped up if he's still rotating with 2 other goalies
They'd only take 3 goalies max,
So Ullmark would have to be really good next year to be considered

Depending on how much roster overhaul is done Bailey will likely be one of the except players. Of current constructed roster. I see the list being
O'Riley, Eichel, Reinhart, Kane, Ennis, Bailey (Girgensons/Foligno)
Risto, Pysyk, McCabe
Lehner
(Bogosian Exempt)
Leaving Gorges, Moulson, Baptiste, Larsson, Deslauries, Carrier, Ullmark, O'Dell, Schnider, Ruwhidel. and one of Girgensons and Foligno. Of course Murray will likely bring in new people this off season so this will all change. - bluengold12
Unless he's forced to be one of the ones we protect. In which case Pysyk is up for grabs. |

Not the case as far as I know that's a separate selection |

What? Bogo has a NMC which most likely means we will have to protect him. |
|
|
|
Very possible we got 5-6 or 5-5-1 to finish the season. Got Ottawa, Toronto twice, Jets, Carolina, and Jackets. I see us finishing around 24-26th. Maybe we get lotto lucky and get into the top 3! Thats really the only shot we got at a top 3 pick - Smittyx36
Yep, I agree. If we don't get a top3, sign Stamkos take one of the 3 stud LHD in the draft and call it a day. Maybe trade with a cap strapped team for a Dman (a la the NYI with Leddy) and call it better than a day |

Yes, but he counts in a separate category like the 1st/2nd year players. |

Yep, most likely
Montreal could lose Fucale
I think it's gonna force some teams to go with their young goalies
StLouis would keep Allen, Tampa prob keeps Vasilevskiy, etc
A team like Anaheim prob tries to trade Andersen or Gibson |

No. The draft will be at the end of next season all of our young players will be able to get picked up and will need to be protected. Including Jack, Sam, McCabe, Pysyk etc. |

If you look at my post I said that. I'm saying a no movement clause person is given his own separate category like someone who would be in their 1st or 2nd years as a pro. IE: Fasching, Cornell.
They are excluded but don't count towards the 7F 3D |

If we don't want to protect guys like Bogosian, we can probably trade him
A guy like Moulson we could just "buy out"
In the end, we probably lose a guy we don't want to...
I'm thinking Larsson, Foligno, Girgensons or Bailey, maybe Pysyk |

Doubt it. If Girgensons/Bailey or Pysyk are sitting there and Murray knows he'd lose them for nothing he'd trade them for whatever he can get faster than you can say the word draft. |

Do you have a source? Because everything I've seen counts the players with a NMC as one of your protected, not in addition to one of your protected. |

this is not true. at all. This is what they are discussing right now on what to do with NMC and NTC right now the consensus is that NMC will need to be protected and take one of your slots. So unless you have insider information that no one else does of the current GM meetings, sorry for misunderstanding your post. |

That's cool, but are u sure?
If that's the case...
I sign guys like Girgs, Pysyk, Bailey, Larsson, etc to 3year deals but give them an NMC
Then we can protect more players
I feel like the NHL wouldn't wanna see teams making moves like that |

Unless he decides he doesn't want to waive his NMC. We're only going to lose 1 of these guys, I'm not too worried. We lose Foligno or Bailey or Pysyk it sucks but it's not the end of the world. |

Say you've got a group of 4 or 5 guys though that could be picked...
Better to just lose 1, than it would be to trade all 5 for picks |

Feel like the NHL should want less NMCs, not more so I can't imagine them doing something like that to give an incentive for them. |

No source. But there is no answer on either. Anyone claiming they will count is lying through their ass. I've read from legit NHL people that owners will not pass something that makes roster exempt players count as their 10 skaters saved. They are all ready making sacrifices and this one will likely be too much for them to agree on. |

I'm almost 100% positive NMC will have to be protected. NTC will be fair game. |

There is no consensus. In fact if there is one it's that the owners will not agree to that. Bettman isn't a dictator and knows he needs to work with the owners to get a compromise. I guarantee you the owners won't agree to that. Conversely it's only no movement not no trade clause. You're not getting traded if you get drafted by another team so that makes people like Moulson open to getting picked. |

I said NMC not NTC if you read my post. Also, Bettman is as close to a dictator as you can get. Don't foget he only needs support from 12 owners to make whatever decision he wants to. And this isn't something being discuseed with them anyway. Its the NHLPA that is trying to figure out the NMC and NTC conditions becuase there is no current rule because this wasnt planned for. |
