I'd want to play the caps in first round if we make it in. If we pulled off that upset, that's the type of thing that can propel a team deep in the playoffs bc your confidence is through the roof and typically means goalie is playing incredible.

Yeah.. I agree. I don't expect them to go far, but thy've obviously been on a crazy roll here. Carry that into the playoffs and look out. - Hextall271
The potential is there. The impact Jake brings when he's back hopefully will elevate us even more. Our 1st PP should improve right away with him back too. But I think we are team to worry about with a goalie duo. We are getting hot exactly at the right time. |

No way you take Vandevelde out. He plays a very important roll on the PK and that line has kept the other team pinned in their zone in recent games. I would actually say you sit Laughton. I think he made a little noise last night but otherwise that line needs a playmaker on it. - BernieKorch
Agreed. Laughton is as expendable as they come. Brings nothing IMO. |

huh... I must be tired to forget his existance in those series. Granted, looking it up... 1 goal in those two postseason runs combined, so I don't think Jagr was the deciding factor. Pens had a number of other ways to (frank) it up. - Guile
He wasn't the deciding factor, but he was a force for the Flyers in that series despite his stats. He set up the Schenn goal to tie Game 1 at 3-3 and make a great play to get the puck to Giroux to open the game 6 series. Plus his puck control in both that series and the Boston series was still great despite his stat line.
And yes, the Penguins were their own worst enemy in those 2 particular series. |

Saying he "brings nothing" and/or is "expendable"is ridiculous, IMO. But he'd be the likely candidate to sit. |

Meh, its the standard WIP stooge talking point.
But yeah, he probably should be the one who sits. But I still think it will be Gagner.

I don't understand why people defend this guy. With 102 GP, he has 8G, 17A and has a whopping 5.8 S%. Ok, I would be willing to turn the other way if he 1) wins board battles and creates room 2) worked as hard as the 4th line (I don't see the hustle there, i'm sorry) 3) or is a physical presence at least (aka, Rinaldo minus the stupid penalties). At least that stiff made other teams realize he was on the ice.
Of course the sun shines on a dog's arse someday with that wrist shot in the CBJ game. He's my beatdown boy on this team. |

Make an argument then. I challenge you to prove to me why we shouldn't be down on this guy. Look, I don't hate the guy....he's still a young pup, but for now...he has contributed 0...err sorry 0.8%. |

You lost to Jagr (Flyers) in 2012
You lost to Jagr (Bruins) in 2013
You didn't play his team in 2014/2015
So this would hypothetically be the 3rd time in 5 years.
- jmatchett383
I can't believe you had to explain that. The reading comprehension skills of today's youth are terrible. |
