I hate the idea that Stolartz would have to be exposed. considering how long it takes goalies to develop, that annoys me. granted there are teams out there, flyers included altho expansion will probably happen after their contracts expire, that have 2 solid goalies that would see one go before a kid. Detroit being one
- nastyflyergirl

that would ROYALLY piss me off if we lost him in the draft. not because i think he'll be the next great goalie, but because they've taken the time to develop him and we should be able to see what we have. he's the first legit prospect showing real promise in a long (frank)ing time. only 4 goalies get taken...very good chance we wouldn't lose a goalie anyway, but still.

If #fancystats don't have a large bearing on a player's effectiveness, why are they brought up constantly?

Also, why the (frank) didn't you give the silmarils to Yavanna?

I don't think you have much to worry about. Both Neuvy and Mason are free agents at the end of next year, I'm assuming Hexy chooses one to resign and Stolarz is the cheap back-up to see if he can develop. I can't see both goalies back after next season.

Understood. So ghost would need protection

The d right now are easily protected.

With stolarz being eligible. The goalie is going to be the toughest for sure. Mase or stolarz? They have time to figure it out and also choose between laughts/Raffl/cousins. Initial feeling is cousins would be my odd man out

This is why I hate this expansion draft BS, how much time have we put into Stolarz and we could risk losing him for nothing? Same with the Pens and Murray, granted they've spent less time with him. And how exactly will adding one or two more teams help the league? So they can come up with more BS rules that make scoring easier since the league will be more watered down and essentially create less scoring? They're doing everything they can to attract the casual fan while alienating the actual fans. Sure money talks but it sucks, it's ruining the game.

that's exactly how I feel. I hate the expansion set up. I get why they want better players exposed but it still sucks to develop players and lose them. it should be similar to the amount of experience needed to have to expose a player to waivers.

and I will be really pissed if you are forced to protect players with NMC/NTCs in their contracts.

if the expansion is done next year maybe they could make an agreement with the goalie they want to retain not to sign the deal til after the expansion draft happens

With all of the NHL-proven goalies who will be unprotected why would an expansion team take a chance on an unproven one?

Well, 30 teams isn't good, otherwise they'd have two 15 team conferences. So the next logical "right" number is 32 teams.

I really haven't read the particulars of the rules for the expansion draft. Here is my potential theory with the goalies. Mason is the guy who gets the extension. Nevy gets traded or is a UFA at the end of the season. I'm assuming LaBarbera will be resigned this summer for another year, couldn't he then be exposed for the expansion draft? Stolarz be the 2nd goalie protected.

Feanor, here's some good context for AMac's stats:

--MDZ, when on the ice, has a score adjusted CorsiFor% of 50.59 %

--AMac, when on the ice, has a score adjusted CorsiFor% of 50.49 %

Sounds like AMac is doing very well and has really stepped up in MDZ's absence. EXCEPT...the team's Corsi % when MDZ is off the ice is 47.36%. When AMac is off the ice, the team's Corsi % is a whopping 56.76%. It just shows the environment in which MDZ played vs. AMac. Two different teams. And AMac is still dragging down this new one, even if he's a plus possession player.

Look at these Flyers winning in spite of a guy willing to block 10 shots in one game for them.

Teams can only protect 1 goalie

I think its too early to get too crazy about the draft. Likely only 1 team coming in, so just 1 player lost. I dont doubt teams will make off the record kind of deals, to get Vegas to agree to not pick a particular player. For example make a trade with Vegas after they pick a 3rd line winger, for say a 3rd round pick + name a player ( Haag) with assurance Vegas then doesnt take Stolarz
Probably against rules but also it doesnt have to be writing that that not picking someone was part of a trade

So how would the expansion team get inserted into the regular draft? If 17/18 is the year, do they get to draft players to build a farm system or would the next year's draft be their first and follow current draft lottery rules, most likely giving them a high pick because they'll probably suck no matter who they steal from other teams?

This...he isnt even the best goalie prospect either. A team would pick Neuvirth over Stolarz and that isnt even counting a team like VAN, WAS, STL, WPG, PIT, TBL

They will be taking our best unprotected player and salary will need to be added, so players with "bad contracts" arent out of the question

Depending on what you do, you can protect one or two goalies.

They'd get the 1st-overall pick in 17/18.

I believe Oskar lindblom could be eligible for the expansion draft. He has 2 full seasons with Brynas if which is professional hockey. Next year would be his 3rd year of professional hockey whether he's with the phantoms or not
