i don't see them - i.e. hextall - moving stolarz as he's taking the next step with an outstanding ahl season in his 2nd year of pro. neuvirth is a very attractive commodity with a fairly proven track record while he's had an excellent season on a mediocre team.

we have to remember there are only 2 potential teams coming board - so it's not like a goalie is going to be taken from every team. they only need 4 total. very possible none of ours are taken. and really, if popular opinion accounts for anything why would ANYBODY want a philly goalie since hextall...obviously every single one of them has sucked and the are THE reason they haven't won a cup. so i think we're good.

Me either, that's why I didn't highlight him. One of Mason or Neuvirth will be gone by end of next season.

Raffl set a career high in games played with 69 and needs three more points to reach a new career high in scoring.

Maybe he doesn't kill penalties anymore cause Hak thinks he'll hurt himself blocking shots with that weird technique of his? It'll be interesting to see what they do with the PK when VdV gets suspended for that vicious assault on Captain Intangibles.

Why do you think his Fenwick numbers are so much better than his Corsi numbers? Last season it was the other way around.
- Feanor

I have no clue. Maybe he is getting more shots through (this was a problem last year) while blocking more? It's a small sample, and I just don't know. Looking briefly at previous years, he has done the same before in multiple seasons. I don't think it's some statistical turnaround.

My main point was that the Flyers, overlapping with AMac's return, have been a dominant possession team among the tops in the league. For much of the season, they were slightly below average. So of course his raw numbers will benefit, even if his relative don't. The Flyers are a different animal right now than they were while he was in the AHL. And I don't think that he is not the cause of that -- there are a handful of other things that have been crucial.

if you guys want a good laugh go check how upset the penguins thread is about expansion. You'd think they're the only team risking good players, yeesh.

They should thank whatever deity they choose and Ed Rendell for the fact that they still even have a team in Pittsburgh.

Nice.

If they have to protect Sprong since they went ahead and wasted the first year of his ELC playing 18 games this season I will laugh my ass off.

seems likely. i like both honestly. i prefer watching neuvirth play. i just enjoy his game more. that said, i won't be unhappy if they keep mason, which they probably will. he's done an outstanding job here.

Feanor, here's some good context for AMac's stats:

--MDZ, when on the ice, has a score adjusted CorsiFor% of 50.59 %

--AMac, when on the ice, has a score adjusted CorsiFor% of 50.49 %

Sounds like AMac is doing very well and has really stepped up in MDZ's absence. EXCEPT...the team's Corsi % when MDZ is off the ice is 47.36%. When AMac is off the ice, the team's Corsi % is a whopping 56.76%. It just shows the environment in which MDZ played vs. AMac. Two different teams. And AMac is still dragging down this new one, even if he's a plus possession player.

I'm clearing in the minority here but that elbow looked accidental to me. Reckless, but accidental.

I personally thought it was a clear cut intentional elbow but that's me

he definitely led with the elbow and deserved a major, but i don't think he tried to elbow him in the head. i honestly think he just miscalculated. he's not a dirty player, and it seems unlikely me that he'd elbow his former UND buddy in the head. he should be suspended a game or two.

is there a limit to how many players a team can lose in an expansion draft? if not, there should be. there probably isn't, because it's the nhl, and it's run by monkeys.

I didnt.. I thought he looked like he as trying to get an elbow in front of him for leverage and totally messed it up. I have thrown many hits like that, and have even made contact with the head. I never meant it. If you miss your hit, a lot of times it looks ugly. Hell, just ask Gudas!

Not sure everything is set in stone, but if only Vegas comes in, teams lose 1 player each. if 2 expansions teams, 1 per team, so then the Flyers and everyone else loses 2 players

I hate the idea that Stolartz would have to be exposed. considering how long it takes goalies to develop, that annoys me. granted there are teams out there, flyers included altho expansion will probably happen after their contracts expire, that have 2 solid goalies that would see one go before a kid. Detroit being one
