Eh, I think bubble charts are the logical choice for this one. Having four data points plotted on one chart (GF With, GF Without, TOI, position) tends to limit your selection. Some of the other charts could benefit from resizing with all of the points plotted in the center. Either way, Tableau is a fun tool..... - steelydan
The scale is horrible though. Can't read most of the names. |

I think there may be ulterior motives. I think the White Sox were in the right asking his kid not be there every day. They are there to get work done. Having a young kid in the clubhouse, on the field, etc... puts the other players in a compromising position. They probably feel like they have to step on egg shells around him. Laroche has been on the White Sox one maybe two years. And he didn't perform all that well. Don't think he has the right to bring his kid to the field every day. Not too many professions would allow someone to bring their kid to work every day. Also, why isn't his kid in school? - PLindbergh31
They didnt even say he wasnt allowed...just that he was there too much. The team lets all players bring family around |

Pure hearsay, but apparently the other players liked the kid and weren't happy about it. I think they just wanted to piss the guy off so he'd retire and clear the books.
As for the "what job lets you bring your kid everyday", this isn't a remotely typical job, so I don't buy that argument from the GM.
I'm not saying the GM has no authority to request this, but why would he wait until camp to address it? Outside of forcing a retirement, I don't see the point. |

Agreed on the clutter. It could benefit from an auto-zoom. Those types of charts aren't best for precise information. It's all about relativism and how player A stacks up against the sample. I don't think you'd use that chart to make a detailed decision. You'd probably use it to identify issues/outliers and then dig deeper from there. - steelydan
It makes sense (edit: to me) to skip the bad chart and just look at the numbers, but colors and shapes grab attention and are easier to copy/paste than spreadsheets. |

yeah, it's just too much information to pack into one chart. If it's so tough to pack four data points into a chart, maybe that's a sign you shouldn't. |

Observations from last night:
Frank the Chicago fans for behaving poorly during the national anthem
Frank Patrick Kane
Frank Chelsea Dagger
Panarin is really good but frank him, he's not a rookie - Scoob
While we're at it, I'd just like to get a little prep work in for this weekend.
Frank Crosby
Frank Maklin
Frank Fleury
and Frank all those bandwagon Pens fans who think that tanking hard for #1 picks is the best way to build a franchise. |

that would honestly bother me more than a kid. You tell a kid to (frank) off, he'll do it (maybe crying, but whatever). You tell a dog to (frank) off, he thinks you want to play. Especially in a field with a bunch of baseballs, it's like a damn fetch convention out there. |

If you ever feel like the level of discourse here is bad, just take a gander at youtube comments. We're super geniuses in comparison. |

Maybe...we didnt give up 2 draft picks to sign medvedev though - YuenglingJagr
Homer also traded Meszaros for a 3rd (Mark Friedman) right after trading for MacDonald, so we got one of those picks back. |

So when does mdz come back. I know they said season ending but that seems like it was based on missing playoffs. thoughts? - jmdodgeser4
Cup Finals.
But seriously, don't expect him back till next season., It was major surgery, he was wearing a gigantic cast and sling, and wrist surgery is not something you want to rush back from. |

From what I saw of the Florida game on Saturday, there was a pretty steep drop off with Medeved from the stability the Ghost/Macdonald pairing has provided.

Yet when you look at the numbers the Ghost/Medvedev pairing has lead to more shots for the Flyers |

I'm clearing in the minority here but that elbow looked accidental to me. Reckless, but accidental. |

i think it was a whole lot of nothing...the league doesnt have to have calls about every single little thing that happens, damn. |
