If it's in June 2017 and the Flyers cap hit next season is $70m, that's $17.5m.
So MacDonald, Streit, Umberger, Read, and Schultz easily gets you there. - Feanor
Ya know, I went on vaca and hadn't seen any games. Just now realized that I haven't seen Umby out there the last two games. Healthy scratch and it seems like it's working out. |

He has played pretty well lately. Have to give credit where it's due. His contract is still a bad one though.
Next year MDZ, Provorov, Ghost. That is some real skill, mobility, and puck moving on the backend. People are talking like Provorov may be better than Ghost. That is scary. - PLindbergh31
I really want to see how Provy adapts to the nhl game. I am still amazed at how Ghost seems to be way better at this level than at the Ahl.. |

would any of them outside of AMac even be eligible? It kind of defeats the purpose of the expansion draft if a team can just put days from expiration contracts out there and call it a day. - BulliesPhan87
To my understanding... anyone with at last 2 pro years is elligible. And the AHL counts as "pro" years.
But they could change everything with the process since NMC and NTC may or may not count as part of the "protected" players you have to designate. |

No way you take Vandevelde out. He plays a very important roll on the PK and that line has kept the other team pinned in their zone in recent games. I would actually say you sit Laughton. I think he made a little noise last night but otherwise that line needs a playmaker on it. - BernieKorch
It may be a moot point b/c the league should look at his hit on Toews (sp), which was a second bad penalty. He clearly led with his elbow to the guys face. If he gets suspended for a game or two, that will effectively make Hak's decision for him.

I know what you mean, but the league can't base the 25% on the current season and then force teams to sign their expiring free agents.
The expansion team(s) will want to pick good players with term, and the 30 current teams will hope they don't have to expose anyone like that. The Flyers seem in good shape for a 2017 expansion draft. |

Add a year or two onto that and you have MDZ, Ghost , Provorov, Sanheim.
Wow..While it is not guaranteed that any of the prospects are home runs..it's impressive to dream about. |

amac has been much better
he still has that hesitation at times, especially on closing guys from the red line in
had a bad turn over that turned into a prolonged CHI cycle and nearly a goal, but so did every other flyers defenseman last nigt |

I wouldnt be surprised if he does get a game or two..

Amac has been one of our best d-men since he has been back in the lineup. His last shift last night was an absolute thing of beauty. Literally out worked Hossa forced a turnover, blocked a shot and ended up clearing the puck. Amazing game - jak521
I disagree with that. He has played better than expected and that play in particular was fantastic, but still bleeds chances |

he's way exceeded what I expected from him, it's a very good thing
obviously not perfect, and playing him 21-22+ minutes a night is a recipe for trouble
but if he can play this well for 17-18 minutes that is pretty good |

AMac has been fine. He will never live up to his contract, but he is still a serviceable NHL level defenseman.

I think he will be a much better overall d-man. Really not even close, but his offense probably will be a bit less than Ghost..
I think he will really end up putting up 35-50 points a year and playing stellar defense. I was ecstatic when we drafted him, and Im even more ecstatic now. |

he wouldn't be the first player who's overpaid, but played well in his own right. I hope he keeps it up. |

If he turns out to be a defensive stalwart while adding 35-50 points, that would be amazing. Almost too good to be true. |

Correct. AMac is the only defenseman signed through the season after next (2017-2018). Gudas and Ghost will both have new contracts that go through then (Gudas RFA this offseason, Ghost RFA next offseason) |

Nor will he ever be. That contract will be an albatross around the franchise and his neck for the length of it.
Ive always said that if he were making Medvedev money we would never be talking about him. |

Thats going to happen to anyone who plays next to Ghost.
I am AMac's biggest critic. Hate the contract, hated the trade... But I'll eat crow, and continue to do so as long as he keeps playing the way he has been. He has been very good since he came back up. |

Yeah. I think he'd be an ok third pairing guy. Unfortunately he's being paid to be more than that. |

Thats the sad reality.. he seems so much worse than he is because of his contract. He has been really good lately though. Playing with anger almost... He needs to keep that up in order for him to continue being effective. |
